the resonators will hinder the flow slightly, not enough to worry about though. the reason for the resonator is to eliminate the exhaust rasp that most have & complain about on the z. i have the kinetix resonated testpipes & my exhaust sounds clean as can be. the kinetix resonated & non resonated version made the same hp on the dyno, but resonators are known for slightly slowing flow just as a muffler does...........

I've always wondered the same too but I got resonated test pipes recently and it's pretty much straight through unhindered like a regular test pipe.. if my arm was small enough I could put it right through the pipe with no obstruction..
There is a bulge in the resonated pipe and some honeycomb material lining the sides there.. that must do "resonating" I guess.. Don't know how it works but air flow probably gets a little turbulent at that section causing a very slight hinderance vs a straight pipe..
but yeah definately get resonated.. non is very raspy and nasty sounding between 2000-3000rpm ..

unless you're f/i you should really get resonated test pipes, unless you can deal with the rasp. it sucks that they cost more, but if you get regular test pipes you're gonna end up wanting to change to resonated test pipes.
my kinetix resonated test pipes added power (or so the butt dyno said) and they do not rasp.
