Too much POP charger oil
I installed a plenum 2 weeks ago. I was having problems with the motor cutting out at high RPM, so I switched back to stock last weekend, and the cutting out is now gone.
When I put the new plenum on, I also re-oiled my POP charger. During the swap back to stock when I took off the POP charger, I noticed that 4 or 5 drops of oil had accumulated around the low point of the filter.
My question is this... Could too much oil on the filter have been causing the cutting out? My thinking is that only at 5K+ RPM would there be enough suction to draw in the filter oil, which might cause the cutting out.
I don't want to go through another swap to test this unless there is a good chance that it will work. Anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks

yes, if you had drops of oil accumulating, that would be too much (actually, way too much) oil. That can cause problems with the MAF sensor which may cause engine to cut out.
When I re-oiled my pop charger, it took me two days as I only put a little on at a time and allowed it to soak in over night so I could see if I needed more.

Thanks, its the first time I had used liquid oil (I usally use the spray). I did let it sit overnight before I reinstalled it, but the accumulation surprised me. I actually didn't think I put that much on.
I guess I'll have to spend another couple of hours this weekend reinstalling the thing and see what happens.
I'll be pretty irritated if it starts missing again, and I have to remove it yet again, but it will always bug me if I don't try it.
Thanks.

??? I think I remember reading somewhere that if you use to much oil it will actually pull some of it into the engine, the moisture or vapors, which isn't good.
If you want to be certain just wash it out, use a hairdryer from a safe distance to dry and re-apply the oil in stages.

You can use the k and n spray oil if you prefer to spray it on. It will also make the filter red.

Well, the excess oil must have been the problem. I put on the Kinetix again yesterday, and it runs perfectly.
Lesson learned for me. Fortunatly it was just labor, and not $$$s. Its back to spray oil for me.
