Default Stillen True Dual CatBack Review: Installed today

My first mod...
Noticed better acceleration and better overall performance.
Sounds fanstastic! It sounds much deeper than stock.
I wanted a deep sound, that wasnt ricey or buzzbomb fart sounding.
Nice deep sound and sounds like a deep growl at 2000rpm.
At highway speed its quiet just like stock unless I press the gas pedal, then it sounds like a deep growl.
Just the way I like it and wanted it to be.
Also, the quality in the Stillen Exhaust was tops!
It looks great too.
I definately recommend a CatBack upgrade, and definately recommend Stillen.
Installed by Z-World aka Reliable Auto, owned by Kin Chan here in Houston Texas, just off HWY290 North of Telge Rd. make a right just
past the garden place with all the lawn fountains.
First time I had work performed by him.

I'm helping my brother install his stillen exhaust and crank pulley on his G35 tonight. I hope it sounds as good as you say it does.

Both cars have the same engine right? Same Stillen Product Number?
Should sound just as good.

I second the great sound. Wait till you add some high flow cats. The exhaust gets a little deeper and car sounds exotic...

Go with the Stillen true dual, manifolds back with high flow cats. Most manufacturers are using 200 cell which easily past emission testing.

If this is true...then I won't have to get under my car and swap out the HFs with the OEM for each emissions test!

Just purchased a pair of HELIX DNA HF Cats with 200 cell metal substrates last week.

ps future mod...going with either the Stillen or Borla TD exhaust...

So is this a fairly quiet exhaust? I want to swap out my Tanabe cause its too loud. I also have Test Pipes... Is this a below 95db tested exhaust?

Do you have any pictures so that I can see what the kit looks like installed? Thanks

Also... did you go with the original or newer style tips? I noticed there was an option for that when ordering from Performance Nissan.

DEFINATELY get the "slanted" tips!
Which although the stock tips are slanted, these look better.
I accidently ordered the straight ones, but somehow ended up with the slants....thank god! They look so much better IMHO.
The owner of the shop took pics buit I am still waiting for them.
I will take some pics this week and post them for you.
As far as sound goes, I listened to all the posted clips and can tell you they were no help to me.
These are quiet when they should be and louder when they need to be but not obtrusive.
Its a sexy sweet sound.....I love it.
When you first start the car you can tell theres a big difference..a sexy deep turnover.
At idle or highway speed its quiet, except deeper than stock.
When you press the gas in first gear it gives a deep growl.
When pressing the gas at 2000 rpm its a deep rumbling growl.
At 3000 rpm its a more aggreasive deep growl.
And at 4000, sounds like a sexy racing beast!
No rice, no drone, no rasp, nothing obnoxious.
To give you a better and more accurate way to judge it, I hate droning, buzzing, farty sounding ricey exhausts.
My greatest fear was I would end up with one.
This isnt what I feared...also just on quality and power I have heard Stillen is tops.
Like I said, when I called Kin and asked what do you install on the 350Z he said "ONLY STIILEN".
My co-worker who is now on his 2nd 350Z, yelled at me and said ONLY STILLEN.
I didnt want Stillen because there was a shop around the corner here that installs other brands for less.
Well, I am glad I took their advice....I am happy as a clam.
Try to hook up with someone at your local Z club to hear the exhaust you want..thats the best way.
Hope I can post some pics tonight!
BTW, you can see the chrome muffler from behind!

I think your reply might have sold me on the Stillen's

I just want to see the images of the slanted vs. original so that I can judge from that

Wish I had those pictures read...I will take them when I get hoem and post shortly thereafter in about 5 hours.
Take my word for it, the slants are better looking than the straights.
Go to Stillens website and look at the pics.
I believe Stillen says the avg gain is 16hp.
In all honesty, you will pay more for Stillen, but will get highest quality and possibly best gains.
"True Dual".

Sounds fanstastic! ............................
Do you mind if I ask what you paid for the cat back? Seems difficult to find any "deals" on a new system.......
