Default Fujitsubo exhaust + JIC y-pipe + kinetix resonated test pipes

Can anyone tell me if they have a cure for my raspy exhaust? My setup consists of Fujitsubo Legalis-R / JIC y-pipe / Kinetix resonated test pipes.

My first thought was that it was the resonated test pipes, but my setup sounded deep and mean, with NO rasp when it was only the Fujitsubo exhaust + Kinetix resonated test pipes. Now, with the addition of the JIC y-pipe, I get rasp when I climb to ~ 3k. Any ideas if switching to the Fujitsubo y-pipe will get rid of this?

I'm specifically looking for opinions from people who have this setup or something very similar.

You opened it up quite a bit therefore you are getting rasp. You could take the Y pipe off or get a set of cats instead of race pipes. Those would probably be the two best bets.

I have the same Fuji Exhaust and JIC y-pipe with Mines test pipes...same raspy sound at 3k rpm... also a hissing noise that sounds like turbo BOV...no cure i think

That hissing is the test pipes. I get that also but I'm fine with that. The only thing that irritates me is the rasp. I get it even if I gradually climb or mash it to ~4k
Do you think replacing the JIC with the Fujitsubo y-pipe will cure this?

Oh no... I ordered the Fujitsubo exhaust and JIC Y-pipe the other day... I already have Kinetix cats... will have the exhaust/ypipe on next week and will report back about rasp (or hopefully lack thereof)...

Uuuuhhhh Oooohhhh... J/K =)

Tell me how it sounds after you get everything on.

I first had the Fujitsubo exhaust + Kinetix resonated test pipes and it sounded MEAN. No rasp, just a mean sounding Z at all RPM ranges / loads. With the addition of the JIC y-pipe I get this rasp at around 2800~3200RPM. I listened to my car this morning and the rasp is in those ranges. When it's below or above this range, sounds SWEET. But in those ranges (2800~3200RPM), it's WEAKSAUCE. I hope that the Fujitsubo y-pipe gets rid of this.

Anyone up for grabs on a JIC y-pipe?

The test pipes will almost always add a raspy nature to your exhaust. Go back to OEM cats or high-flow cats and I can almost guarantee you the rasp will go away.

How do the RT cats sound? I was looking for a set of hi-flow cats, but went the Kinetix resonated test pipes route due to the fact the Fujitsubo exhaust is EXTREMELY quiet. The test pipes really woke the sound of everything up, but to my understanding hi-flow cats are a lot quieter.

DC Sports headers, Kinetix cats, Gruppe-S Y-pipe, Fuji Legalis-R

Rasp in the same range you're experiencing it. Very slight.

Funny thing is a few weeks ago I snapped a weld on my kinetix cats and dropped the stock cats back on. Rasp is gone at this point. Car sounds mean.

That's interesting..... Your situation points to the Kinetix hi-flow cats creating the 'rasp', but in my situation it seems to point to the JIC y-pipe.

I'm still wondering if hi-flow cats is the solution, or a different y-pipe (Fujitsubo y-pipe). This is getting increasingly difficult..... =(

The R/T cats are very close to straight pipes when it comes to flow. They do flow more than the Kinetix. The Nismo Y-Pipe was the last part of the sytem I installed. I had no rasp before the y-pipe or after. The R/T cats should keep the sound level you have, or at least really close. Other cats will make it more quiet.

you removed a resonator, that's why you got the rasp

I have the Ultimate high flow cats, Ultimate Y pipe, Fuji Ti exhaust...no rasp at all, very crisp, defined sound at all RPM's and a nice quiet idle volume.

You either need to fit the stock Y pipe back in, or get some high flow cats.

I have the Kinetix resonated test pipes and I'm thinking about swapping out for the Ultimate high flow cats... How much shipped to zip 90503? Also, how's fitment and sound?

I recall my Fujitsubo being EXTREMELY quiet even under load before I added the resonated test pipes / JIC y-pipe. What will this do to the sound after I swap out the test pipes for the hi-flows?

Bring this thread back form the dead.

Anyone know how does Fuji sounds with non-resenated test pipes and OEM y-pipe?

I have the PRO-1 test pipes that i never installed. But always wanted to know. Does Fuji sounds louder?
