Default AAM Stage 4 HP Set up

I am seriously considering purchasing this set up...

Plenum spacer
ECU Reflash with a Custom Tuning
Y Pipe
Test Pipes

Its going to come to around 1800 i think. Do you think its worth it?

Also don't say go FI because this car is my daily driver....i am in sales so i am trying to keep my car close to stock to retain the warranty but also get a little extra go out of it.

Any opinions....

The ECU reflash is not worth the money at that level. I would rather have some headers instead of the reflash. The reflash would be more beneficial after more NA mods and then tuned with the car on their dyno in their shop. The whole mail order thing is really not fun.

how are you coming up with $1800??? thats way too much
go with something like this

crawford plenum - $350
alphawerk headers - $640
xerd test pipes - $105
JIC Y-pipe - $365

thats $1460 for all the parts

not sure if your going to do the install yourself but if your bringing it to a shop that has worked on a Z/g's before install should not be more than $500

if your doing the install yourself with the $500 you'll save on from the install get the ECU reflashed.

Thats including the install.

I think the package is 1340 through the website offer. 350 for the custom tuning which is basically a dyno tune and then like 200 for the install.

I would love to be able to install things but i am a bit mechanically challenged. If i would have done it all over again i would have scraped college went to some IT institute....became a mechanic and open my own shop. Hindsight...

Any way......Does anyone have any idea what type of gains to the wheels i can expect?

I still think you'll see better gains from the parts that I listed without the ecu reflashed than what you were going to pay $1800 for. I would say go with the mods I listed & drive around with them for a while until you can afford the reflash

It's like this you have to think NA or FI because you will spend just about as much either way NA mods are high for this car then there is the FI wear and tear on the engine.... for what you are looking at is kinda high 1800.00 agree with no need to reflash until you are almost done with moding your ECU is set according to your mods that is when the reflash really worth the $$. Headers can cost a lot to put in depending on they type headers they have to tilt the engine FUN. Search around I am still doing research(saving) comparing dyno's with parts this FORUM is the best for doing research.

I just noticed you have an 05. Have they even been successful reflashing the 05 ECU yet??

The ECU reflash is best done after all the mods are completed. If you do not want any further NA mods then the ECU reflash is appropriate and having in done while on the dyno is the way to go. If you are thinking about headers and cams down the road, then you might as well hold off for a bit on the ECU.

Well...i am not planning on doing anymore mods but i am going to get a custom tuning. AAM said that they will keep my program in storage in case i want to do anything else to it or am having problems.

I am just curious if these gains will be noticeable when i am driving the car. And where throughout the powerband.

I just think that it's adorable how AAM calls it a stage 4 and it will most likely make less than 20 HP
