Default thinking of getting these mods, have some questions

so I think im going to get the nismo C/A intake, headers and catback but I was wondering any of you have set your car up this way and how much of a difference in HP did you feel, how much HP will you gain, its going to cost me about 3000 dollars all said and done, I know I can get cheaper stuff but I like the nismo parts and want to keep all my warranties, let me know what you guys think,

thanks

It's been proved that the most efficient gain in HP and torque, outside of boosting an engine, are by intalling intake and exhaust, the best bang for the buck when wanting to gain HP. Having said that, each manufacturer has their own claims regarding HP gains. HP gains are best measured by the venerable "Butt-O-Meter". How it feels to you and how it sounds is a good way to measure the success of your modifications.

There is one objective way to measure gains. Find someone in your area with the mods you described. Find a shop with a dyno in it. Both of you go to the shop on the same day and have the cars dyno'd and compare the numbers. That will give you a pretty objective measurement of the increases you may realize by doing the modification. Remember, HP and Torque gains will vary in differing ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, elevation) so don't necessarily rely on a measurement taken in another area as being what you will realize in AZ.

The internal combustion engine is bascially a big air pump. More air in + more air out = more power made. That's why boosting works so well.

I think you have a good plan. I went with a Stillen exhaust and intake because that's what they tested with their S/C kit and were willing to warranty the whole thing for 3 yrs and 36K miles.

I think the Nismo parts are cost equivalent to the Stillen parts and having Nismo on a Nissan makes sense. If you can get a warranty on Nismo from Nissan and have them install the parts, so much the better.

I say go for it! After all, it's only money. and ya can't take it with you.

I went with the Nismo CAI, catback exhaust and sways on my roadster. I am happy with the sound and general handling. Nismo claims about 12HP gain so that would be 299HP.
