If you really want to make a comparison, send me a test unit. I have a K&N typhoon system (one of the most expensive below yours). I will do a test and let everyone know.

Seriously, if it gives 10hp or more i will order one immediately.

This type of filter ("short ram" compared with "front filter CAI") is the best one from a maintainance and safety perspective (water soaking) as well as the perhaps most important aspect for me, the SOUND!!

The popcharger short ram is cheap and excellent value at ~100$, but dosent have a "enhanced" MAF tunnel which is where i think the gains are made.

afetech - Would it be possible to get a "factory discount"?

A week to get this dyno'd on someones ride. How sad. I shouldn't waste my time. This thread probably needs to be locked. Wasting peoples time.

Well, i dont think its a bad design, if i was looking for an intake i would pay 100 bucks for this one, but i really doubt it would make more than 8hp

I have a feeling it may turn out to be another Dreamworkes supercharger like thread that just wont die. The offer to do an inhouse dyno is a nice gesture but really, until an independent owner dynos the intake at an independent dyno we wont know for sure.

Fact is, I don't believe there is any single NA bolt on, short of nitrous, proven to have produced 20 hp. From my recollection, not exhaust, intake, headers or even cams have produced that kind of power. And, clearly there is some stacking or pyramiding of power. When adding multiple mods, adding on the next mod clearly doesn't add claimed gains. Rather, the combined mods produce some unknown added gains with realistic gains to 250-270 rwhp and top out at around 280 rwhp if you do every available NA mod short of sleeves.

So, after we've been watching every single aftermarket mod that has come out since the Z was released and some intake company claims 21hp/19tq we already know what kind of whooey we're reading. There's puffery in advertisement and then there's ********. I think this will turn out to be a product for non-forum members who don't know jack and amusing entertainment for those who care to test the product. Just becareful where you step is my suggestion because I smell something.

Don't know but it sounded like a generous offer. And, I'd expect he's up and up if can cite references like Z1.

Yeah, QuantumZ will be recieving a test kit! He is in keeping in touch with my marketing manager to get this whole deal settled!

Also NissanSource will be coming down once he gets back from vegas to do a dyno run!

Although it does seem like this is taking a few days to settle, keep in mind , aFe is a large company, things have to be scheduled and planned. Besides I dont see many other companys lining up to have people come and dyno there vehicles to ensure customer satisfaction. If people feel they are wasting there time, Im sure it wouldnt be to hard to find another topic in this large forum community to post in!

Will update progress when recieved!

Thanks

i don't even need an intake, but i know the vast majority of vendors don't offer their products for independent testing, and we are a motley, cynical crew on this site, so i give props to afetech for their integrity and thick skin up to this point.

Perhaps we can get a group buy going once we get the dyno results if everything stacks up.

Where does the MAF go on this kit? I don't see one connected in their set-up. Is it somehow designed into the WAI?

The MAF goes in about the same spot as the stock location. If you look at the picture from the site, a few inches past the air filter you will see a black slot on the tube. That's where the MAF attaches.

Gotcha, so they don't use the whole unit like most aftermarket intakes. Interesting....
