Default Difference In Headers

I've done a little searching around and still haven't been able to answer my own question.

I was wondering why a set of Borla headers cost $589 and Nismo go for $1289 for an 04 350Z? That's quite a jump. I didn't see what Borla claims as far as HP gains, but I can't believe it's much different than the Nismo.

I currently have Borla True Dual exhaust which I love, and I was wanting to make it sound just a little "meaner".

So basically, my question is, why such a price difference?

Thanks!
Mark

brand name is the different in cost. Knock off product cheaper because they don't need to spend money in R&D. (BUT it work the same as brand name one.) TopSpeed is one of them. Cheap and work the same as $1K header.

Of all the headers out there. The Borla is the one NOT to get. They make zero horsepower with an exhaust.

borla is not a Equal Length Header... They Make HP but they do NOT make Peak HP. They only make HP in the Mid Range... which is not reflected in the PEAK HP Number...

If you are looking for a header in that price range go for the DC SPorts

That's been proven. I have no issues with my Crawfords. Do a search and you'll find my Dyno. Crawfords are the most expensive though, and the install is the toughest. However, they are worth it.

I think it's hard to justify the cost difference between a lot of the different headers out there. There are some with price tags that are very high, and some that are dirt cheap.

Now, I am a true believer in one of the things my dad used to tell me when I was a youngin'. "You get what you pay for!"

As Lowrider mentioned, there are the Crawfords that have been touted as one of the best headers out there for these cars. But it's open to interpretation whether their design and few extra HP is worth the extra investment. No doubt their hand built quality is top notch, and if you can afford them, then they're a good consideration.

Then there are the low end headers - ones that are being sold dirt cheap on eBay and such, that undercut every other manufacturer out there. They are the copycats, and it's a logical solution for those that are on a tight mod/upgrade budget. But then, "you get what you pay for." Don't be surprised if you have inferior fit or quality issues, installation troubles, welds or materials cracking or breaking over time, and little to no manufacturer backing in the way of a warranty or support of any kind.

My strong recommendation is to go with Strup headers, but then, I'm biased 'cause I sell 'em. ;o)

This should answer more of your questions:

any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Good luck with your choice! By far, one of the best NA upgrades you can do.

Ive heard that the top speed headers are the best bang for the buck u can get them for about 300-400 bucks i think. They are shorty headers and are supposed to gain good hp for the money.

Default Alphawerks headers had good numbers

and I got a deal on mine from this forum for $440.00 shipped. Most of the guys who had dynos done posted gains anywhere from 14-20 hp which, for the money is worth it to me.

Mine go on next week.

David Borla himself says his headers gain nothing.
