Default Exhaust Help

I'm badly need some exhaust and still can't decide. Here are my thought and tell me what yall think.

amuse - if I had the money.. my first choice.
HKS hi power- my second choice.. I don't like the tone as much as injen, but looks the best (next to amuse)
Injen - my third choice. I love the deep tone and looks fantastic and it's cheap. I heard you lose low end torque.. is it true?
nismo - don't like the canister in the middle look and not loud enough.. piping too small.
borla.. too much piping and I heard people having issues with fitment.
greddy - too high pitched.
tommy kaira - kickass sounding, like no other but hard to come by and expensive.
stillen - like the power gain and the sound.. but weighs too much.

Life is short. Save your money and get the one you like the most.

Have you heard any of these in person? Reason I ask is because your description of some are way off from my experience with them.

The HKS tone is more exotic and IMO definitely better than injen.

Injen is maybe deep on start up, but is definitely borderline ricey.

Greddy (if you are refering to the evo2 vs the sp2) is not at all high pitched

Stillen doesn't sound much different than stock IMO and has sub par looks - early model at least

From my experience with these exhausts and based on your comments; I think this is the way you should rank them:
1.) Amuse
2.) HKS - I think you would be much happier with the tone than you think
3.) Greddy Evo2

If you think the Amuse is too much cash, I think the HKS will be a fine 'substitue'. That said, I do agree that you should save your $ and get the one you really want rather than settle.

thanks for the input, fellaz. zivman, I have heard all the exhausts in person and I've listed my input according to what I thought of them. At this point.. HKS is on top of the list, but since it'll be more visual and very minimal hp gains, I feel 1500 is a looot of $$. Nismo by itself is purty quiet and I'm not going with header (maybe cats). Decisions decisions..

Then I ask you, what is "high pitched" about this?
Pull away

Dyno Run

Also, headers won't do squat in terms of volume. Test pipes are all you need to wake up any exhaust.

Nismo pipe is to small? 3" is to small, injen is running 2", that is not even as big as the outlets on the stock cats and it looses torque. The Injen does look cool though.

Get what you want though, you are the one that will have to live with it.

Nismo too quiet? Nismo wails at WOT. Very exotic sounding. Quieter at cruise, but do you really want loud while cruising? Could get tiresome after a while.

What exhaust is that in the pull away clip? A Greddy? Whatever it is, it sounds exactly what I'm after. Does the Nismo sound anything like that at WOT?

Sound Clips aren't too useful. All depends on what kind of speakers you are playing them through. Honestly.....it is near impossible to verbally describe the subtle differences in the sounds of various exhausts. You just need to hear them. Short of that, you really just want an exhaust that rips when you're on it, is quieter when your not.

YES!

it also depends on the microphone used.. usually, the ones in digital cameras and camcorders are very crappy. I have a stereophile magazine test CD that gave you samples of like 5 pro studio recording mics and how they all make the sound vastly different in tone

I think the HKS is an awesome sound, I tend to like thier tone the most. And yeah, test pipes will wake up any exhaust system, just watch which ones you buy or they can turn the exhaust note kind of raspy.

the amuse definately the best IMO. Also, the custom HKS cf/Ti single exhaust sounds great too. From the sound clips I have heard from Wicked4u2C, it sounds like a deeper version of the amuse.
Right now, Im kinda stuck between the HKS TD (since I dont want a single exhaust), and the Fujitsubo with Ypipe and HF cats. Which do you think would sound more like the amuse? or have more of an exotic note?
Also, is the fuji or the nismo louder when both setups are complete with Ypipe and HF cats?

Sound is next to impossible to describe, but expect a fairly loud drone at 60 mph. Interesting that the drone is barely noticeable at 70 mph plus.
