I'm hoping somebody can help me out, here, I just installed a K&N Typhoon CAI on my 350Z and it makes the car sound much better but the car feels less torquey. Now when i stomp on the gas peddle it just makes noise, before it actually put you in the seat (somewhat). I also noticed the car seems to get warmer and fuel consumption is up. I checked to make sure everything is on right and it seems to be. Please help me out!
I noticed the exact same thing when installing a open cone filter on my car (similar setup to the POP charger), i especially noticed the difference after switching back to the stock one again...
But i think there is some gain in HP at high RPM's instead (which is where i like it the most), stock i am quite feed up with the engine at high rpm's, the sound at 4.5+rpm is more like a noise then a propper engine note and the vibrations just makes you want to shift early...
BUT when i had my cone filter on it was a completly different story, mostly because of the sound, i always wanted to pull above 4.5k rpm! Cant wait to get my Typhoon next week + my HKS Dual TI hopefully within the next year or two (has been on backorder since 1½+ months now)...
When i get my Typhoon i will run a G measurement test (with my G-techpro) to see if there are any gains/losses in acceleration (which is the only important factor)

I’m 90 percent certain that the Typhoon adds peak horsepower and peak torque. What may have happened is that the modification altered the torque curve. I don’t use the butt dyno, nor do I pay for dyno tests. My testing is done under real life conditions at the dragstrip, and I’m happy with the results.

I have the typhoon, and noticed a similar thing, though not as bad, and my mileage is still great! try the ECU reset, if you can't find it go to technosquare.com and they have it there. It's a pain in the *** but it helps. I think my next mod will be an ECU upgrade!
