Hey everyone,

I just got my Z last week, and I bought the KN drop in filter yesterday.
Before I put it in, I was wondering if anyone knows if installing this will require an ECU reset? Also, I've looked up the instructions on how to do the ECU reset, involving nailing the gas pedal a bunch of times. Has anyone verified that it actually does reset the ECU?

One more thing.. is it just coincidence that resetting the ECU on the 350Z is the same as the cheat code for Contra???

 

It may help to do it with the filter. I say try it. Some says it dosen't work though.

In that thread you posted, one person said he talked with a guy from technosquare, who suggested that resetting the ECU will improve performance initially, but then it will get worse later, because it tends to overcompensate.

I suppose no one really knows except Nissan, heh. I'll try without resetting and see how it goes, hopefully it will learn how to deal the right way.

 

Yeah I read that but I haven't seen any diminish in my cars performance after I did it.
