Default borla TD owners

hey, i have a k&n typhoon, grounding kit and borla TD exhaust on my 05 Z . i want to buy some test pipes but i HATE rasp. i can't handle any at all. if i wanted a honda rice rocket i would have bought one. having said that. i was just wondering what you guys have experienced with with the borla exhaust and test pipes. i love the way it sounds now but i would like it louder and deeper. i don't care how loud it is as long as there is no rasp. thanks

search for test pipes. However from what I've heard almost all test pipes create at least a little "rasp" as you mentioned. You might want to look into some high flow cats such as Crawfords. I personally dont own then but I've heard then and they sound nice.

I have Borla TD exhaust and LaBree Motorsport testpipes with resonators. The resonators are key if you want to avoid rasp. Testpipes alone = rasp. Testpipes with resonators = less or no rasp. The LBMS testpipes virtually eliminate the rasp. There is a very slight tinge but hardly noticable. They are the best testpipes I've seen and I'd buy them again.

What exactly is rasp? Does the stock exhaust have that sound?

Adding resonated test pipes to the Borla is the best thing you can do. It did add a little rasp, but the Borla is so deep and smooth it adds a bit of the stock gurgle back. I have a vid on the dyno from my previous G35 with this set up. If you want, I can email it to you. Sound clips aren't always totally accurate, but it should give you an idea.

here you go, this is a link of how my car sounds, several clips actually, keep in mind that i have dc headers as well and a vortech SC but you will get an idea of how it will sound with the borla and test pipes, the headers didn't change the sound much at all.

mine is the silver z in the videos,

+1 on the Crawford cats. After adding mine I fell in love with the Borla exhaust all over again. They really compliment each other.
