Well, because it does not have anything to stop it from sucking major water, some idiot will try it and drive his car through some water, suck it up into a nice warm manifold, or just drown the airbox if the air filter is stock, either way who cares if its rice or not? If it were flat black "aerospace tubing" from some special source vs. dryer vent and cost $100 people would line up to buy it...

No, I haven't attempted yet, waiting until Spring when it is warmer. But thatnk you for the info. I definately want to see what it looks like, but am concerned after you mentioned it protects softer metals...

Not all people would line up. Like people who didn't get a CAI but rather the popcharger because they believe in the short ram air theory.

Never said "all".

Point was if it looked better, there are people out there who would say "yo!" compared to looking like dryer vent tubing, regardless of whether it works well or not. That's the "looks good=works well" mentality.

I do not see the point of any serious FI on the VQ engine w/o internal mods unless you just want to blow the thing and rebuild it later. Mild hp gain, sure, but for bigger numbers (350-400+ whp) the stock engine clearly wasn't designed for it.

But that is IMHO only...and everyone's entitled to their own

Well I plan to be one of the first; just wish they'd hurry up and get them out already!

I hope everyone here realizes that all this blabbing over intakes is all just mental ************. The stock intake on the Z is so well designed, that there is nothing to be gained with an aftermarket intake. It's a mod for the sake of a mod, that's all.
