from what i gather test pipes make the car louder and "raspier" even if you get resonated ones it will still have some rasp i believe. Cats will make it a little louder but not nearly as much as TPs. TPs are cheaper though but wont pass inspection. Its a tough choice really.

Don't forget about the smell, a lot of people talk about the noise and forget about the exhuast smell. It is pungent with no cats. I installed HFC and I can tell a stronger smell then before.

If you have to pass emissions test, go high-flow cats.
No emissions inspection – test pipes.

I dont have any smell at all with my test pipes...mine was used so maybe that is the difference.

I dont even know how to begin to describe how rasp sounds...like an air flapping sound inside your exhaust. almost as if the exhaust pulse smacks the pipe walls and you can hear that...is that close someone? probably just made it worse for him lol sorry if thats the case...but I love my Test pipes...i have some rasp but now that i have added my plenum spacer it has changed the exhaust note and it sounds really mean!!! i need to get a clip

Its neither good nor bad, Its just a bit different sound from the exhaust when you install headers, test pipes or high-flow cats.

Did you install the anti-flapping compensator?

Test pipes are good in certain applications, but do some research. A good set of 200 cell metal substrate cats will flow just as many cubic feet per minute as many aftermarket exhausts... and you wil be legal.
