Angry Rattling in my Y pipe

I noticed a rattling in my Y pipe yesterday. It always sounded raspy cause of my test pipes. But I started soundin worse yesterday afternoon. So, I took it to my boyz warehouse to check it out. Seems like its comin from the Y pipes hornet nest. Might be leakin air from it. Sounds real $hitty! Takin it to see if it can get fixed. I hope I won't need a new y pipe.

I had the same, a raspy noise between 2-3k rpm with just the test pipes and y-pipe. After i purchased my catback the N1 sound well overpowered the raspy noise and sounded much better.

I had the same problem too. I had the NISMO exhaust and Kinetix cats installed. The location I purchased the exhaust from replaced the Y-pipe free of charge but the problem returned three weeks later but louder. I look under the car myself and I see that one cat is cracked and the Y-pipe is rattling again. I remembered from the original install that they explained to me that they were leaving the stock mounting bracket off the new cats because they were causing the cats to crack on other installs due to poor fitment with the R/T cats they installed in the past. This didn't make sense to me at the time but what do I know. Just to satisfy my sense of curiosity before I fixed the problem I tested the fitment of the bracket with the Kinetix cats and they bolted up beautifuly. The second time the rattling started I again went back to the location and told them it has to be the bracket that's causing the problem. While looking at the car on the lift we also noticed that the NISMO exhaust was cracked back by the muffler as well. At this time I'm fed up with the installer because they have new people working there and the level of customer service has dropped to non-existant. They continue to tell me there is no way it's the bracket. The installer welded the exhaust back up and was supposed to swap out the cats for me too but they didn't even do that. I ended up having a friend who is a mechanic take care of it and he actually showed me while the car was up on the lift why the pipe was rattling and stuff was breaking without the bracket.

I have a rattle also. It only comes when i decelerate. It sounds like a babys rattle or a rattle snake at a very low RMP. I don't know what it is. I have test pipes and a Y-pipe. Sounds like something is loose but it's not.

i'm thinking the y pipe is amplifying the rattle from the cats/test pipe.

Do you put earplugs everytime ?

I have the rattle when I decelerate from 2200RPM to 2000RPM, It wasn't there before! I always had Crawford cats without bracket and nicely welded,Megan y-pipe (+Invidia N1 with inner silencers: I tried twice without and never will again, how can you? )

I just got mine fixed. My problem was that the welds on the collector of my nismo Y pipe were cracked and caused the two straight side-by-side pipes of the Y to rattle together. This only happend between 2500-2000 RPM on deceleration. Welded the collector back together and welded a bracket in between the 2 straight pipes of the Y pipe. Problem fixed. Cost - $60
