Dumb intake question...
I know this is probably a simple question, but not having modified a car in either fashion, I'm hoping someone can tell me the answer...
Do must Turbo Charger kits work with or in place of CAI, like the current offering from Injen?
I was thinking about ordering the Injen setup, but don't want to if I'm only going to discard it later when I upgrade to a SC or Turbo...

If you're going to put a SC or Turbocharger on, the kit will mostly likely come with intake hard piping and filters. Greddy's turbo kit will come with piping and filters for the intakes. A regular CAI like Injen would have to be taken out to accomodate the new turbo intake piping and filters.

You could definitely build your own custom CAI. Most turboed cars don't have a CAI though and instead use an intercooler AKA aftercooler to cool the air after going through the turbo. The reason being the air will be heated significantly going through the turbo anyway so most just use an intercooler to help cool the air before reaching the throttle body. But if you could make a CAI it couldn't hurt.

Good Question
Thanks for asking, that's the route I want to go to (FI )
if I can afford it, so I just saved 250 bucks
Twin Turbo...
I like the idea of free modding a plastic pipe into the existing airbox from the air damn like someone else mentioned till then.
I'm hoping Holly will make a blue Power Shot air filter.
If I can't afford the Greddy it's the NX Wet Kit with all the bells and whistles, maybe Venom, not sure yet.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I'm planning to mod my Z in the following order... hopefully by the time I get to the bottom of the list, we'll have a better idea of Turbo/SC options...

Y-Pipe with Flowmaster 80s (maybe no performance gains, but man, 2003z's car sounds great with the flowmasters!)
Lightweight wheels (looking at saving 32 lbs overall and 16lbs of unsprung weight... should be good for a few horsepower
Grounding Kit (may do this one sooner)
Nismo rear spoiler... still haven't seen one I like better
Injen CAI (pending announced dates for SC or Turbo kits)
SC or Turbo kit
With the exception of the last item, I would expect to do all these things by the end of March. Any other ideas where I can pick up a few HP before the superchargers and turbos arrive?

Well, you could always take out your catalytic converters and have flanges made so that they would be an easy swap back to stock. That will definitely add horsepower...so if you don't mind a check engine light.....

But the smell is horrid at idle. I did this on my FireHawk and it really adds power.
It's like 99 bucks a pair for the sims.
I am going with high flow cats and Y-Pipe and don't forget the resonator delete mod , that is a cheap power adder/ weight reducer.

For the time being, I'm going stay legal and keep the cats on. Thanks for the suggestion, tho... may look at that some time down the road.
As for the resonator, I'm not sure I like the sound with it off, but with the flowmasters, I probably won't hear much raspiness from the lack of resonator anyway.

I saw them somewhere
So they are available, I think it was import tuner magazine.
They basicly fool your car into thinking you have cats and prevent the SES light.
It could have been the import section of Summit Racing Catalog, call them they have great service.
