Default Installing Motordyne spacer without torque wrench?

I received my spacer this morning and just got off work. I was wondering how hard it is to install without being able to torque down. On the paper using a wrench it says the hand can tighten to 90inch lbs of torque or equiv. and with rubber gloves and do about 110.

My concern is what happens if you tighten to tight? or not tight enough? or should i wait and have a mechanic do it with a torque wrench?

plenum bolts are easy to break... better do it with a torque wrench and make sure you got the in/lb not the ft/lb wrench...

you should be able to hand tighten them with no problem, snug is all that needed.

Not tight enough - vacuum leak.

Too tight: Break the tightening bolts. Crack the upper plenum.

Is the vacuum leak noticable to where you could just tighten it if you hear it. Or do you not hear it, and causes damage. I'm in the same position, whether or not to go buy a torque wrench.

If all else fails, buy it, use it, return it. Just tell them "It did not meet my needs."

(the torque wrench, that is).

o and the instructions say without using torque wrench that a hand can do about 90 inch/lbs and hand with rubber gloves can do 110 approx... so i should be fine without one, im just stuck at this middle gasket dilema, the thermal gasket is already on, im talking about the middle gasket u get to

Seems to be a common problem. I did the same though installing mine. Just went to our local Ace Hardware and bought stronger bolts.

I went to local auto parts store and bought the gasket sealant. I also ordered a second gasket from Nissan. So use the stock one below the spacer and use the 2nd one/ gasket sealant on top.
Does that help?

I just went to auto zone to get a torque wrench and the one they had we like 160-900inch (or something like that). The other ones were ft/lb. I told them what I needed and they were like don't waste your money on that. Just use your hands and slight turn with a wrench. ???

sorry, but I wouldn't trust the mechanical advice of the guys who work at autozone, checkers, etc anymore than my girlfriends taste in movies. sears should set a micrometer torque wrench that will be within the correct range. otherwise go online and shop around. I got one from these guys. it was cheap, it works well, and the customer service was excellent.

Sorry no one is paying attention. Two gaskets: one on each side of the spacer.

Actually the INCH pound TQ wrench is required! Not a Foot LB. The foot lb are $25 bucks. You need one that goes BELOW 100 inch LB. And the only place that has one is Sears and they are $70-80 bucks. It is a must trust me.

All the auto part stores have a inch lb one, but they don't go below 100 lb setting. (cheap ones oh well)

This is what you need.
