I ran kinetix test pipes on my z with stock exhaust for about 3 weeks. It drove me up a freaking wall every time I would drive the car I love so much. It sounded terrible. Its loud and raspy, worse than a M3. I don’t mind the sound of M3s but I hated the sound on my car. I forced myself to buy exhaust sooner than I wanted, I bought borla true dual and took care of some of the rasp My car is still a little raspy between 3-4k but it is now bearable. I like the gains form the test pipes but the sound just killed me. If you do get test pipes prepare to buy sparkplug anti fouler because you will most likely get a check engine light.

Price should NEVER be concidered vs quality. There is no point when buying an 'upgrade' for your car where you should be fooled by a part that is sub-par quality for lowering the price of the part.
Pro 1's and megans have horibble welds that you can't even see on the inside of the pipe. They might be good for a while, but if you put stress on the engine like torqueing it when racing or shifting hard, hitting something hard w/ your exhaust when you bottom out or suddenly go from super hot to cool such as hitting a puddle, you can get a cracked test pipe.
If you want to get a test pipe i suggest a test pipe w/ superior flanges since thats teh weakest part. If you're getting resonated i suggest labaree, ultimate racing or kinetix (they might break but kinetix has AWSOME customer support). If you're getting non-resonated, i suggest APS, AAM, XERD. They have nicely welded flanges on thick thick stainless steel piping. Also, the nismo exhaust is known to push against the cat pipe so a weak test pipie will crack easily.

i just put economics into everything cuz im an econ major and im a chinese jew...
lol...
ur damn 300 dollar straight pipes are so overrated for what they provide?
why not just goto a custom muffler shop and get a 3 inch custom straight pipe welded in there?
that will provide better quality and cheaper price
....
or dont listen to the econ major kid

Okay, I went ahead and purchased the low cost test pipes and y-pipe. I also bought tanabe gf210 springs. I installed them all yesterday and the exhaust sound is pretty sick. The smell on the other hand is horrific especially inside a parking lot. The rasp is there but I can get used to it, it sounds more like a M3 with exhaust.
