What HFC's or test pipes?
Finally money is starting to stabalize and I can afford to mod the z. I'm getting the motordyne 5/16 and was wondering what/if I should get some HFC's or Test Pipes at the same time while the money is there to use.
The Z is my daily driver and I live around a higly police patrolled area so I dont want it offensively loud
. I'll need to pass inspection so that is a factor as well. Basically looking for a cost effective option that gives me the power and is reliable but doesn't bring the cops on my as for being too loud
Suggestions?

if you are highly concerned about police and inspections, i would go with high flow cats, crawford high flow cats to be exact. the crawfords look very stock like and give good gains.
while you are changing out the cats, i would also swap the ypipe. i recommend the nismo ypipe. (i have one for sale btw

i have borla too and i have testpipe. It is not that loud so you don't have to worry. I had Random Technology HFC ($600) a they didn't delivery the job as good as my $120 testpipe.
I'm strongly suggest using testpipe instead of HFC.

test pipes will not pass visual inspection. Sometimes you might get away with good tuning and pass the sniffer, but most of the time it will fail. HFC will pass for sure.

What kind of test pipes did you get bubble and what did you feel over the HFC's?

so you're gonna get test pipes now? i thought your were scared of the police and inspections, etc.
you might want to check out the laws in regards to test pipes in NY before purchasing. the chances are quite slim of getting caught, but if you do the penalty can be quite harsh (at least it is here in CA). so esp. since you live in a heavily policed area, you might want to find out what the fines/penalties are first.
You sure? are these resonated? what does everyone else think? Cant see if they are resonated or not.

I might get them if they aren't that loud with my Borla TD all I have is a cai and soon the plenum spacer. but I did hear a guy a while back with Helix test pipes and that was just ridiculous loud and all he had was a popchager and Injen angle tip and the pipes and it sounded like an f*ing plane. so I shyed away from test pipes. There are plenty of loud cars but they are usually the fart can variety honda that get the cops pulling them over all the time I just dont want to invite the chance you know

T-Pros is the same as Megan Racing. I have a customer who had theirs crack almost completely into 2 seperate pieces.
LaBree is expensive, but its still not $5-600 like some HFC. You get what you pay for, LaBree's are probably the best test pipes out there. Plus LIFETIME warrenty.
Yes, T-Pros is cheap, like $150, but if you break your first set, and have to buy another one, then you're spending $300. LaBree, just buy it once, if it breaks, they'll get you new ones.
