Default Exhaust question.

What is a decent exhaust that sounds good, gives decent gains, isn't too loud, and sounds somewhat stock like. I know nismo sounds close to stock, but I was wondering what other exhaust systems sound like stock except louder. Everyone please give me some feedback about the exhausts you guys have. I.E. stillen, borla, injen, invidia, etc etc...

Oh and anybody have any for sale in New Jersey or around the area?

My friend has the stillen exhaust on his '97 maxima. He put in the 350z engine in it though. Should sound somewhat similar. Although it might be louder than regular stillen's since he put headers on. You're more than free to join us one of these weekends and check it out since we're somewhat near eachother.

Something is telling me to go HKS though. I love the sound of that thing.

I recommend that you

a. Set a budget.
b. Decide what configuration you want. Single. Dual. One or two mufflers. Y-pipe?
c. Shop for catback exhaust systems which meet your budget and selection criteria.
d. Pick your favorite.

Hmm... Well if I'm going true dual I'm sure I would want stillen. I definitely want dual exits though. I would just like to hear from people who have aftermarket exhaust and a comparison to what it sounds like from stock. Also what the gains are like.

gain for exhaust range from 7 to 14hp max. I have Borla and love it (but i'll change to HKS) It sound better than Nismo. Stillen is dual but they're heavier than your stock.

Go here for sample of exhaust sound clip:

If your are interested in the signature 350Z sound, but a bit louder, I can tell you what will not work: my set-up.

The exhausts that IMO are reletively stock, but deeper and a tad louder when you open up the throttle are:
Fujitsubo, Nismo, 5Zigen Pro Racer X, Invidia 2000, and HKS hi power ti

All of these will have a slightly different sound to them when really getting on it, but they will really offer a reletively low, close to stock sound when you're light on the throttle or at idle.
I highly recomend Nismo for the best bang for the buck, and 5zigen if you want to be very unique as it's very very rare. The 5zigen has a fairly exotic sound to it as well over the rest.

HKS is excellent as well, and very popular.
PM me if you need more details.
