Default Nismo Installed (drone)

hmm just installed the nismo catback. I have no other mods. Is it suppose to drone a bit around 3k rpm?? its not as bad of a drone as my previous car but i thought it was gonna be pretty similar to stock but man this thing screams and has a nice deep note. Im not really complainin but i might start gettin sick of it later down the road, Will high flow cats increase or decrease the noise?

Nismo is not noisy at all... It was designed to be a little louder than stock... just a little

The Nismo does seem to be the loudest around 2700-3000 RPM. Around town I love it because it is louder and more noticable than stock. On the highway, I cruise at 3000 rpms in 6th at about 80mph. On long trips (one 12 hrs, the other 8 hrs) it has not been a problem at all.

Cats will probably make it a little louder or might change the tone.

I’ve always maintained that any description of exhaust sound is fruitless. One member will say exotic, and another will say rice. One member will say loud, another quit.

Concerning high-flow catalytic converters, if they increase the volume of air passing through the exhaust, yes, the exhaust will be louder.

My Nismo will drone around 2500-3000 RPM's. It has softened a bit with some miles on it. I also have Crawford cats as well.

I'll tell you what though, I wouldn't trade it for anything when I hear that sweet sound at WOT.

I never only had the exhaust only but I will say that the Crawford Cats was one of the best investments that I made. I absolutely love them! I have the Nismo exhaust headers running to Crawford Cats then to the Nismo exhaust. I love the sound...& no idiot light codes..

If your noise sensitive then high flow cats will make your situation worse. I had my high flow cats removed and went back to stock. I could not hear my stillen exhaust, just the cats.

hmm when i looked at the stock cats....i was like oh man This is gonna be such a waste of money if i leave those little restrictive pipes on....I am somewhat sensitive to noise but i was drivin down today (2nd day with cat-back) as i drove through the inner harbor tunnel wtih my windows down, I fell in love. The drone might be annoyn but man the sound everyone else around me gets to hear is beautiful. That satisfaction is more then enough for me

There's an Interstate overpass that I drive under regularly. It's has bricked walls so it reflects the sound really good. I just can't keep myself from flooring it every time I drive through there so I can hear the sound.

lol, glad i could be an inspiration

I'm hoping I can retain my Nismo exhaust w/ the APS kit, at least for now... I love how it sounds! Unfortunately one of the welds on my megan racing test pipes cracked after hitting some debris on the highway, but I'll either fix them or just replace them with the APS equiv. so it's not the end of the world...

well the nismo at 2500-3000 rpm is considerably more rice...
that has been a fact
so what you do is shift at 6500 to avoid such ricey sound

Heh, I thought mine sounded a bit ricey at first, nice rice, but still rice. I added the pop charger and it did deepen it a bit, not as ricey. Looking forward to keeping that improved tone trend by adding some hfc's and plenum, but really digging it as is now though.

nice rice because you paid like 20 times the money than the mitsubishi eclipse with the HKS replica 5 inch can in the other end of the parking lot, it better be nice rice

hahaha, rev beyond 3500 the noise changes into God mode
