I've read some posts where people complained that their gas mileage dropped significantly when they went to the Borla or Stillen true dual catbacks.

Do any owners have definite opinions on this topic?

Maybe you like too much the sound of it and gun it all the time to hear it.

I know mine before the break in period had very nice gas mileage, but now that is broken in, I like how it roars!! and my gas mileage has gone down a LOT

The debate about bolt-on horsepower and fuel mileage will go on forever. Holding curb weight constant, the vehicle with the most horsepower will get fewer mpg than the vehicle with less horsepower. Thats just common sense. Or is it?

some would say that the more air you move in and out of the motor with less restriction it helps it breathe more and it turn works easier hence making more power. you just have to stay off the gas to reap the benefits.

Thanks for the opinions.

I couldn't imagine that the posts I read about massively reduced gas mileage could be correct--it just didn't make sense.

I'm still on fence between the Nismo and the Stillen.

Hmmmmm.

My MPG with Stillen didn't change, although my driving style did!

>I'm still on fence between the Nismo and the Stillen.

I was there too... After seeing the Nismo and realizing it was a Yback, not a Xback I fell off the fence. Also decided against straight pipes since I wanted maximum torque, and a refined growl.

It's also true to say that although the true dual exhaust systems will flow more air they will do so with less back pressure. NISMO did NOT go true dual exhaust as you all know. There are a complex combination of factors at play here. Free-er flow can result in less power...

Hmmmmm.
Get the NISMO. Neither will improve gas mileage as the lighter weight of these aftermarket exhausts creates a greater gravitational pull on the immediate bottoms of your feet causing more unexplained but satisfying growls and resulting in aching face muscles.
