Make sure you get it diagnosed before you jump to conclusions...just to make sure!

Did anyone have fitment issues with the crawford catalytics and the heatshields under the car? My drivers side one is only a 1/4 of an inch away from the underbody heatshields and i think is making occasional contact.

my heatshield rattled against the HFC's upon install, all I did was that I used a metal bar to push the shield back like half an inch and it never rattled again.

I ended up pressing in the heatshield a bit, but it still was too close. I ended up having a friend grind away part of the crawford cat heatshield and so far im rattle free. Also had to put 4 washers on the V brace in the rear of the car, as the mid pipe was hitting. I must say though, now that i have no contact, the combo sounds incredible.

+1 on that. I'm still holding out on cats or resonated test pipes because all I keep hearing about is cracks, leaks, rasp, rattle etc.

Why is it so hard for somebody to weld up quality pipes that don't crack?

There are numerous reports of Crawfords cracking....not sure why one wouldbuy with so many issues. Do your homework up front and you will not have any problems. I installed Ultimate Racing HFC's because there were no reports of cracking and they have the oem brackets for support. Some manufacturers cut corners to increase margin and the end user pays the price. The Ultimate Racing Cat's fit, make no body contact and are full stainless construction and have a 50,000 warranty. Make the stock exhaust sound much better and are a good in-between move before you decide on an aftermarket system. No CEL either.

can you be a little more descriptive about the rattling that you're hearing? I'm asking because i think i might be experiencing the same thing. Its not all the time and usually when the car is cold. its more like a buzz/rattle when i accelerate hard.

i think one of the reasons people like the crawfords is because they look stock and would pass a visual....for those who have to worry about it.

to solve the cracking, take it to a muffler shop and have them beef up the welds were the brackets are on the cats...about 40 bucks.

i have had mine now for a couple of years and i really like them....a great mod for performance. they also transition nicely with headers and cat backs since the same size diameter with regards to the inlet and outlet sizes on the cats
