N/A Induction advice wanted please
I have NISMO CAI, Cams, Headers, Cat Back Exhaust, Motordyne 5/16" PS and UR Pulley on a 2004 (287 hp) Z.
If I understand Motordyne's web site correctly, I believe that my plenum spacer essentially now gives me an MREV set-up. I plan to install the MREV lower plenum from Motordyne before I re-flash. I want advice on the following question...
What is the best possible induction for my setup? Everyone is telling me to change the NISMO CAI for a stock tube and JWT pop charger. Is that the best way to go or are there other tricks with "short ram"? All opinions appreciated please. My goal here is to re-flash once because it's not cheap.
Thanks!!

an intake is an intake. they have not shown to be any different in reality. if you paid the $250 for the Nismo CAI stick with it!...or you can convert it to a short-ram

yeah the V2 intake wasnt around long. it had its own MAF housing in a straight tube and looked alot cooler. but yeah ive heard it didnt produce great gains might have even loss some so nismo went back to using the stock MAF tube in the V3. the V3 is alot like the V1 except the filter is positioned a little higher so it stays cleaner.

youve got a nice set-up. id love to have cams and headers.
as for the intake set up yeah a few people including myself have noticed slight low Rpm lag and a little less throttle response (only down low) with the spacer CAI combo.
so a short ram set up might be better for you. as some know i had the V1 nismo intake and i just went back to the OEM intake (2006 version with velocity stack) and a high flow drop in filter. you can try either of those options or depending on what version nismo intake you have i believe you can convert it into short ram bu removing the water diverter and putting the filter there. (that might be your cheapest option) plus the filter will be easier to clean

I checked the Motordyne website and exchanged e-mails with Tony. Unless I have completely misunderstood this he is stating that a 287 bhp engine with spacer essentially becomes an MREV engine and that the MREV lower plenum core exchange will work with this (my) combination and add more power. Perhaps a couple of other people could check this out independently. I can hardly believe it myself....

There are tons of discussions on similar topics, but our general school of thought here is that using a JWT pop charger with the stock intake tube is just as good as MOST intakes out there, (CAI or short ram alike).
we've all used JWT on our 350Zs here, and hae liked it. I've gonr through a few intake setups on my car, and settled with a JWT, and notice the same performance as every other setup i've had.
Especially when considering the money factor, the JWT can't be beat.
MREV kits include a lower plenum for the 287 engine, so unless you are a 2005 6spd track or 35th anniv., or a 2006 6spd, the MREV will not do anything extra for you over just the spacer, since that is the same plenum you already have.
Also, the MREV plus is not a fully polished lower plenum, it has a few small spots inside that are shaved down a minor amount, to help with airflow to the front cylinders.
On a side note, you can take your plenums to a metal polisher, and have them polished out, which will smooth out the airflow inside the plenum chamber. You may not notice much power increase by doing this, but it won't hurt either

Wait for my dyno (probably Saturday or Monday) with the new MREV++, it is the (new) modified lower plenum from the 287hp engine. The MREV+ is the old modified lower plenum. The MREV (no +) is the stock lower plenum.

MREV : the collector from the 287hp engine
MREV+ : the collector from the 287hp engine, with some machine work done to it. It is modified.
MREV++ : starting from the MREV+, it is further machined and further modified. the MREV+ has been around for a while. The MREV++ is "new".
