Question Best Race/Test Pipes for Nismo Exhaust

basically i have the nismo cai and exhaust and since south carolina has absolutely no form of emissions testing, i think i want to go ahead and remove my cats. what i'd like to know is what race/test pipe will sound best (and fit of course) with my current set up.

thanks,
james

I don't have a Nismo cat-back or cai but I do have the APS race pipes and love them!!! Very nicely built.

Best test pipes are LaBree test pipes, period. Resonated, no rasp, no rattle, perfect fitment, no cracking, retains use of the stock support bar.

I had thought of buying test pipes, but since so many ppl were reporting cracked TP's, I bought a set of used OE cats and gutted them...perfect fitment and retains all mounting points - only downside is that they're still heavier than TP's.

I haven't had any cracking issues with my APS pipes. The rasp isn't as bad as many think/say. It sound a lot better imo. Uses all the factory bolt points and support bar.

Sound the best? Umm they are just a empty piece of pipe. The differences that you find are

Resonated vs non resonated
Hangers vs no hangers

Stay away from eBay junk and you will be fine.

Uhhhhhh, have you looked at and heard all the options out there, or are you just boosting your post count? I second the LaBree test pipes as the best "test pipes", but I really like the sound of my Kinetix high flow cats with my Nismo cat back. NO RASP

Davidv is right. Stay away from ebay crap and u'll be fine. I'll personally suggest APS test pipes, labree test pipes, kinetix test pipes and strup test pipes.

A tube is a tube. A resonated tube is quieter / "less raspy" than a non-resonated tube. Some tubes are built with higher quality than others. In the end, it is just a tube and they should ahve similar performance.

If you understand this, you'll be fine.

Had the Xerd on my NISMO, too loud and raspy, but quality and price were great. Now I have Kinetix HF cats, about to try resonated TPs.

I have a Nismo exhaust w/ JWT pop charger. I just ordered a set of Fast Intentions resonated test pipes. We'll see how they all mesh.

I had Helix test pipes (non resonated) and I hated the rasp. I got some ebay ones (resonated) now and they sound great. Compared them to a buddies that spent 3x as much and they look the same, sound the same. The only thing that doesnt look the same is our wallets.

Just recieved a set of resonated test pipes and put them on with my Nismo cat back. They sound great I absolutely love them, but they rasp at wot and it annoys me to no end. Anyone have a solution to this which still allows me to keep the test pipes?

Mine only rasp when I let off the throttle just below 3000 RPM. But not loud at all. Especially compared to my non resonated ones.

Doesn't a check engine light come on without having a cat? If you take out the cat on the stock pipe wouldnt that trigger a check light?
