Default Larger MAF housing?

Hey guys

Audiblemayhem got me to thinking. Is there a larger Maf housing available for the 350z or has anyone tried to place a larger one on the car. I believe the stock one measures 2 3/4. From what i understood, the stock MAF is calibrated for a certain diameter housing. So if we increase the size we would have to trick the ECU with tuning i assume. No problem with having the UTEC.

With all of this talk with bigger bore Throttle Bodies and porting and polishing of plenums. We still have not addressed the size of the MAF housing, its a bottle neck.

Anyone??

well well.... funny you should mention that. i have installed a mustang 5.0 maf housing. it is a 3.5 inch housing and its all in. i am going to have some pics tomorrow. now i need to either scale my injectors correctly or wait till wed for my turbo xs map sensor cause i am going to tune it NA speed density....

car is running like crap right now. i have a lot of scaling and tuning to do. lower plenum is on too. i will throw some pics up tomorrow

My freaken MAF gave me problem with HKS intake. It's so sensitive. The car stalls when I start it w/o stepping on gas. I had to put back the stock intake and problem still there. I had to bring it to nissan dealer this morning. It's better not to mess with the MAF

All kinds of stuff brewing

So our MAF sensor will plug right into the mustangs housing??

Looking forward to hearing how it goes. I think as long as your able to tune with the UTEC, i dont see a reason why we can put a bigger MAF housing on the car.

So i take it you got your tuner working and are able to see your A/F reading now?

Good luck with everything Audible

oh no... its not even close to plugging right in, i was drilling, dremeling, sawing, lots of stuff. but i got it to work now. it idles perfect. just have to do some scaling to get it to run right. its about 25% off which is a lot. it will work much better speed density mode so i can just add IPW in...

Doug has the maf in his custom "Experimental" larger intake tube. You do have to tune for any slight change in placement and tube size. UTEC, Emanage, etc is required for this type of modification. The major limitation after that is the throttle body. These mods really need to be hand in hand, as they each limit eachother . . .then you have to tune for them. Just moving the MAF around can make the car run crappy.

Makes sense, thanks for your input Vandy.

I do have the UTEC, so i plan on having this made sometime in the future.
