Default What should I do with my Gruppe-S Y pipe? Opinions please

I just purchased a Gruppe-S Y-Pipe used. Will performance gains be affected by it having been used? Also what power gains can I expect?

So heres the deal:
Should I install it myself or have a shop do it. I've installed nitrous on several cars as well as many intakes and a couple exhausts. The only thing that worried me is the bolts on my 06' z are round (nothing for a wrench to grab hold of. I need to re-use my factory bolts/nuts and I'm wondering if this will be possible and how to hold onto these bolts?

I dont want to have to pay a shop....if I do, how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance!

You have a couple of choices:
a. Vice grips
b. Nut cracker
c. Hacksaw

Why would the y-pipe crack?...It looks to be in perfect shape? Are y-pipes known to crack?...if so why do people buy them?

David...so these are my choice of tools to cut off the bolts or hold them...so re-using them will also be a pain in the a$$??

Should I pay a shop to do this?

the gruppee-s y-pipe is, from what i've seen, pure crap and cracks frequently. I'm not certain why people buy them on here - if you arn't going a complete catback the y-pipe is nearly useless - you'll noticeable a lot of down-low power loss with minimal gains uptop. Not really worth it *shrug*

I wonder why I never came across this information in my searches previously?? Thanks for the input.

Anybody else have experience with this or any other y-pipes as far as performance gain/loss goes as well as structural integrity issues??

Any help is greatly appreciated! I don't want to screw up my brand new car or make it loose power!

it is easy if you have the proper tool. Shop will charge you 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour to install. Depen on the rate they charge per hour.

My Gruppe-S cracked on me as well. The second and third one, flex pipe tore. I said F-ck It. Just decided to go Megan. Cheap and effective.
