UPDATE!! larger MAF installed only...
ok hey guys, i will breakdown exactly what i did. i posted pictures in my other thread. first of all would like to say that with the mustang 5.0 maf housing installed without the lower plenum, my car pulls WAY harder than it ever did before and its untuned WITH my friend in the car. plus the temperature here in florida is 93 degrees right now. i have an accelerometer and know exactly what it pulls in each gear. my car broke loose everytime i floored it in second gear and when i banged third gear the car got sideways like it used to do only in second. i will be on a dyno friday to see what kinda numbers i have. PLUS that was the first drive with it and havent even begun to tune yet!!!
very excited about this, more power all over and high rpms pulled much better
here is what i did. i got the maf housing out of a mustang 5.0 i removed the ford maf sensor and took a drill bit and bored out a perfect hole for our stock maf to go into. when i got it to fit i put sealant around it and used two screws to keep it in place. i then lined up the new maf with the stock air box and cut out the box to line up correctly. the new mustang maf housing is 3.5 OD across. i bought a short piece of 3.5 inch radiator hose to make a nice fitting. then i used the bottom end of an injen cold air off my G sedan and flipped it around backwards. i made the old side that went into the cone intake (3.5 inches) and lined it up with the mustang MAF, i then cut off the other end of the injen so it left 3/4 inch of to fasten the clamp and fitting to. lined it all up with some minor tweaks and it looks like its from the factory!!!
the hood hits the new intake BUT some minor trimming and it will close perfectly. i have perfect 3.5 inch intake tubing all the way to the throttle body. here are some pics!! will be out tuning for the next couple hours !!!!!!
EDIT!!! you MUST have someway of adding the proper overall maf signal correction to do this. ( utec, greddy, unichip, AEM, etc)

Very Nice, looking forward to those dynos. Does not look like it will be hard to make it work looking at your photos. Do you think just using a piece of your Injen intake pipe would work also? I still have my AEM cai sitting at home, i could fab up something with that.

well guys, i have figured out that it might be a ford lightning stock maf. it measures 85mm and thats what an early year used.
i just want to say that the car pulls like crazy!! i have an accelerometer and the hardest i have ever got it to pull in 2nd gear is .41, its pulling .47 now and holding it to 6 grand.
third gear breaks loose if you bang it nice, i am pulling .41 in third gear which is .05 harder than it ever pulled even in cold weather
cant wait to get it dynoed!!!

well i am going to try to bring my stock intake and do one quick run with it on so i will have perfectly dynoed numbers against each other. i dont think it should be a problem at all....
i am going friday morning. will have some numbers

I know on my VR4, upgrading the MAF is like oen the first thing to do. there is a Mass Airflow Translator that you use to do a plug and play plus it allows you to adjust air/fuel. not sure how that can be used to work on our cars. im sure its doable and will give us the ability to use LS1 and LS6 mafs. 3.5 inch and 3.75 inch.
Subscribing! I know this is a real newb question, but is there a way to make a Q45 Throttle body work?
