Cold air intake question
I just got my Z a couple of weeks ago and now I have the itch to do something to it. Can anyone tell me if I put a cold air intake on it with the rest of the car stock will it do very much at all? My neighbor is a mec and he says it's stuped to put on an aftermarket intake by itself.
it wont give you much in the aspect of performance but the sound will be better...but make sure you get a bypass valve for when it rains a lot if you get a cold air. That was the first thing I did to my car and loved it ever since.

Hi. Welcome to MY350Z.com. I know you are extremely excited to have the car or in great anticipation of getting one. Until you own the car, you should refrain from asking any questions about modifications. If you do own the car as of now, please continue reading. You may not believe this but in the 4 years since the car was unveiled and this site was started, people have asked questions similar to yours. I know.........crazy right? Rest assured, you can be content in knowing that one of the other 63,000+ members of this site has had the same thought as you at least once and shared it with the group. How do you find these answers, one may ask. Use the SEARCH feature. I know what you are thinking now. Why would you want to search for old information when you want the most current up to date info you can get? Don't fret, my friend. Try SEARCH anyway. You'll be surprised that the question you were asking was answered just 30 minutes ago and is actually posted just 4 or 5 posts beneath your own. I know what you're thinking now. How could the question have been answered just 30 minutes ago. The answer is: BECAUSE NONE OF THE NEW PEOPLE EVEN ATTEMPT TO SEARCH EVEN ONCE.
This is in no way directed towards anyone at this point. I just want to know if that is an acceptable (respectful) response that I may post in the future.

But seriously, don't bother with the search nazies, just skip their rambling posts. They're just repeating the same answers we hear all the time...
About your cold intake. Have a look at your OEM Z intake. You can't get much straighter than that! So, get the intake for sound more than for power upgrade.

I'm in the same boat as you. i have had the car for about 3 months now and wanted to do something. I put the Stillen cold air intake for a few reasons.
1. I believe the filter is where most of where the H.P. comes from.
2. The original air box location is used but modified. Nissan did a good job of locating th eoriginal.
3. Stillen had the most reasonable price.
4. The long tube will produce cleaner air, but will allow the introduction of more dirt. Remember it only takes 1 table spoon of dirt to kill a motor.
5. WHen you get to 6 grand it sounds like a wild animal.
