Default MREV 2 or 5/16th spacer + TS reflash... please help

Hey guys. I have a little dilemma here. Right now on my car I have a rev-up lower plenum on my 287hp non rev up Z. The car pulls great on the top end but low end tq is gone as you can see from my #'s. So I was thinking of swapping it out for a spacer or a MREV2. For those of you that have either a 5/16th spacer or a MREV2 with a TS reflash, how does the car pull above 6k? Also I haven't dynoed since I got my reflash, do you guys think I should go do it agian and see how much the reflash gave me? Which one would give mre power, a spacer or the MREV2? Hydrazine please help

MREV2 will produce more area under the curve.
The spacer will produce a higher peak power.

But even then, they both perform very similarly. Both predominantly add peak power.

If you have already done a reflash, you will be good to go with either or both!

I spoke with Andy from Perf. and he said that the rev-up lower collector is more for top end where as the spacer and mrev2 add more under the curve. Also wouldnt adding the spacer to the mrev2 only give like 3hp or something like that?

I have MRev2 on a non rev up motor and i can say no low end power was lost. I also just ordered from Hydrazine the isothermal 5/16 spacer and even though the performance gains may be minimal, its cooling properties could improve help overall. What do you think Tony?

I know the MREV adds low end power. I am asking about top-end power. Since I have a TS reflash, I can rev to 7100 and the rev-up lower plenum is said to make power all the way till 7500.

Yes. This is true.

Even at 7100 RPM I would suggest the MREV2. The REVUP engines do great with it and they rev to 7100.

If you reved at 7500+ then I would suggest going with the REVUP collector but this will be a pretty rare example.

At 7100 and lower, the MREV2 clearly gives a higher average HP and area under the curve. Dyno plots show it has a tuning frequency better optimized for area under the curve.

So just the MREV2 or the MREV with a 5/16th spacer?

It depends on where your A/F is starting at. Some cars come rich from the factory and some come lean. I've seen stock cars with A/F's as low as 11's and as high as 14's.

Install one or the other mod to start. Get a dyno and check your A/F. If you are in the 13's or lower you can add the other mod. If your are in the 14's don't add more mods unless you get a reflash or engine management.

I already have a reflash and my AFR is set at 13.3 across the rpm range.

Hi Tony, what do you recommend for my setup? Currently I have popcharger and TS ECU reflash on my 06 revup motor. I'm considering going with the 5/16th spacer and MREV combo. Except I wanted to know what you recommended the MREV+ or MREV2. Here's my last dyno chart with my setup as it is right now.

could you also interpret my AF graph for me? I'm not quite sure what it means.

thanks in advance,
Dan

BTW, my redline is at 7500

I did a little reading and it sounds like the MREV2 is the one to go with. Can someone still explain the AF graph to me?

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. Your A/F is great. You can add the mods no problem at all.

i just read this and I wanted to make sure everything's clear... I have a redline of 7500 after TS Reflash. Do you suggest I stay with the revup collector then? Any idea what would happen when I tried to rev to 7500 using the MREV2? Or did you really mean 7500+ as in a redline of 8000 which is very rare.

It would be close.

To really know, it would be best to have actual electronic dyno data so I could export it into Excel. Once its in excel I could do a rigorous analysis to see which did best.

Despite being close, there is also the variable of how you drive. If you rev high all the time, maybe. If you drive mostly on the street, absolutely.

so there's a chance if i install MREV2, there's a possibility I will lose some in my peak top end. is this a correct statement? I noticed that in daily city driving I usually don't rev above 4000. When I'm on the freeway, driving spiritedly however, I take it up to 7500 all the time. When you say "if you rev high all the time, maybe" are you saying that I might be better off with no plenum modification whatsoever?

I would expect a significant net gain, but in your case, the only way to know is to install it on the dyno.
