Default Looks like Borla exhaust is out.

Full Cat Back. Buy direct from Borla here for $742.99. No pics yet, but you should be able to see it on my car pretty soon.

Borla 140041

I will also be getting the AEM Intake and Dastek Unichip. My goal is to dyno 260-265 RWHP. I get back from the Caribbean on the 14th of March, mods will be quick after that.

Raceboy,
Borla is locted in Oxnard as you know, did they use your car for development? Is it a dual pipe system? Do you have any specs?

It seems odd that you would buy their system without any knowledge of the product.

Yummmm. I had a Borla catback on my last car and loved it.

Felt the power almost immediately after install. The low end kicked in nicely. Also the tone was mellow and low with ZERO drone.

Interesting? I recently spoke with one of the engineers out there specifically working on the Z exhaust. According to him, they have been "Less than pleased" with their results thus far. And further stated their product would be off for til' at least Summer.....

I have never owned a borla exhaust and i am very interested in purchasing one for the z. I am afraid though that it will sound like the "ricer" cars that go popopbrooooooooom.

Take a look at the their exhaust for the altima. looks kinda big! Anyone have a sound clip? btw the pic is straight off their site.

Borla is about 5 minutes from my house. The Z is not going to unlock a lot of HP with bolt on mods without ECU mods, that is why the engineers get so frustrated. Intake and exhaust are good for maybe 10 hp total at most, but add an ECU or Piggyback ECU like the Dastek that will be going on my car and you could have about a 30HP gain. I intend to back all this up with Dyno charts so we shall see. As far as sound goes, I have never heard a Borla that I thought sounded bad.

My car has about 6K miles on it. I am gonna baseline dyno it again when I get back from vacation, then I am gonna add everything and give a new total. Sorry though, I won't be able to give individual gains unless someone else wants to pitch in for all the dyno time.

Default Weigh each system

Please weigh each system, and report the numbers. I know we have weights for the stock system, but each scale is different, so we really need each person to weigh both systems on the same scale to get an accurate difference in the weight.

Thanks!

Looks nice - but not much info being given out. Would like to know more. Like weight, HP gains, etc.

Please someone post pics asap and technical data in regard to flow control. Is the muffler principle going to be restriction or reflection? Borla typically uses restriction, but one could hope!

I just got off the phone with Borla direct. The system is in fact available for the 350Z. No specs yet as too power gains that the salesman knew of anyway. I have heard several Borla systems on the 300ZX and they sound phenominal. I mean as mean as an 8 cyl but out of a six. That nice deep raspy sound you get from maybe German cars. Not the loud pop of a fart can from a 4 cyl. that cant produce enough exhaust gas! I cant wait to hear one on a 3.5L in the 350!!!!! Got to start saving now!!!!

I have been speaking with Summit Racing Tech Support today and they carry the Borla system but, it is back ordered. They have it listed for $629.95. Here's the link:

Default I don't want to be critical...

but, how do they expect people to commit a $700 purchase and not even have pictures?? There is got to be some pictures out of Borla, common!

Before I shell out $700 it is too much to ask to see it (not even in person, just a pic!?)??

I had the Borla system on my Z32 N/A and it sounded great. You pegged it right - it literally sounded like a V8 was sitting under the hood of my car. I was running 4" outputs, so I don't know if the sound would've been any different with the 5" that they had available. I know there will be a lot of people in Southern California that will have Stillen & Borla exhausts, come out to our meets and lets hear 'em! <---------Shameless plug

My friend had a borla system on his Z32 N/A and it sounded perfect. Really gave the car the bark it needed.

Default Hi Apexi.

Thanks for the doc.

After looking at the design in there, kind of... disappointing. It shows a pre-muffler, single pipe to one "post-"muffler with two exits.

Besides sound, why this vs the stock one? They seem almost identical...

I agree with Slaponte, it looks like the stock system. Where does the hp come from? The pipe diameter looks the same, the mufflers look about the same size.
