i've gone through the thread, and i wanted to ask this question:

it's been stated that for Non-Rev ups, if you're not going to get a tune, then only get one of the MREV2 or 5/16 Spacer. My question is which one should I get? Is that a straight forward "X is better than Y" if i only get one of them?

^^^MREV 2 for more gains you feel in daily driving, more low/mid torque and more area under the curve. Spacer if you care more about top end power, spacer is better for drag racing and quarter mile times. I've got both because I am getting a UTEC tune and know I'll net over 20+hp...with the combo and a tune.

Default Intake ?

Just installed my MREV 2 this weekend. Just wondering, what is the purpose of the steel plate and the vally that is under it with a small hole going to each intake runner? Drain for the oil that goes thru the intake?

So if I would have installed the spacer along with the MREV, the instrutions say the OEM gasket can be discarded. Having a gasket under that steel plate is not reguired? Also Tony, what is different on the REV-UP engine manifold that it can't be used to make a MREV 2?

Nope. Not at all. The only reason it is there is so they can have the webing to put some gasket under the plenum posts where it is needed. But when you have the spacer internal supports for the plenum posts, they are self sealing. It makes the OEM gasket redundant.

Also Tony, what is different on the REV-UP engine manifold that it can't be used to make a MREV 2?
They are entirely different manifolds. The REVUP plenum has short runners. There is nothing to be modified.

But that doesn't mean they are junk. Keep your REVUP lower collector!

When your lease expires or you sell your car, put the stock REVUP lower plenum back on your car and you can sell the MREV2 to a friend or on line easily. You could probably get most of your money back that way.

Yo 11,

Big shot out to h8Bumps for comming over (after St. Patty's Day and all) and hooking up the mods for the Z.

We put on the Motordyne 1/2" spacer, the Motordyne MREV2, and the APS tough boy strut bar today. With us being engineers, it took us a good 3 hours to do it all right (see below).

Problems with install --> No very good directions with the strut bar...had to revome a lot of clips and stuff and not a lot of slack on the electrical bundle...the motor cover had to be removed because it interfered with the new strut bar (Oh well, 0.1 lbs ligher!)...it did tighten up though...we couldn't get it really tight at 1st...after I drove it...I checked it and it got really tight. Also, I broke the PCV valve! When I was pulling the hose off the lower plenum, I pulled so hard, I broke the sonic weld at the PCV valve. At 1st, I thought we were f-ed because I didn't know what I broke, but when we realized what we did, nothing superglue couldn't fix. It's a $10 part and I'll get a new one tomorrow.

TCS --> KEEP IT ON! No more than 500 ft. after I made all the mods, I took TCS off and put the pedal to the medal around a turn...I just remember h8bumps screaming...OH MY GOD as we were sideways almost crashing into a minivan!

Anyways, MREV2 is a BIG plus!! Love it!

Exhaust, Cipher, UTEC, and FD gear are probably next.

Late,
Nikki Ree

No, but I'm sure the results would be similar to testing on prior revisions.
Higher average with the 5/16" spacer and a higher peak with the 1/2" spacer.

so the 1/2 yields higher numbers with the mrev 2 on the revup then the 5/16 as far as overall peak hp.

Yeah... I just took the MREV2 and spacer off of my 06 (i am ordering an 07) and I put the MREV2 and spacer on my wife's 06.

I am having to drive my car around stock now until my 07 gets here. LET ME TELL YOU>>>>> I feel like my car has been castrated without those mods!!!!

Just NO low-end grunt like I was enjoying and was used to. It's huge difference. I want it back!!!!

Also a NOTE TO ALL who are installing this mod... Something I noticed when removing it from my car... You need to drive around for a couple of weeks with the spacer installed and then go back and re-tighten all 12 outer plenum cover bolts. Two things happen once the spacer has been on for a while (1) the Gasket material on either side of the spacer compresses a bit and (2) the glue that holds on the gasket material to the spacer melts under the heat and squishes out the sides, which also results in some compression. All of my bolts were very loose (prolly like 10 inch lbs!) because I did not go back and re-tighten them. You might want to retighten them a couple of times.

tell me about it im thinking about it seriously.

Hydrazine i was under the impression that the 5/16 spacer and the mrev2 gave the revup the best numbers

But from what i hearing in this thread its the 1/2 spacer combined with the mrev2. Boy im a little confused. I would want the most possible peak hp gain with the revup. What would yield me this for once and for all. Because these threads due get confusing to a point.

Yes. The 1/2" spacer makes a little more peak power, but the 5/16" makes a higher average power.

Look at the comparison of the 5/16" and 1/2" spacer on the website dyno plots from the shoot out.

The 1/2" spacer makes the highest peak, but the 5/16" makes a higher average.

The same holds true when used on a MREV2. Overall, the 5/16" is the best performer.

RBlover,

Get the 5/16 with Mrev2.

It's so much more conveniant; power is felt on daily driving, unlike the 1/2.

And like Hydrazine said, it gives out higher averages than the 1/2.
