so i have a 2003 with APS tallboy plenum not tuned and never dyno'd

1.) would MREV2 be good to go with right now

2.) and what about a spacer is this something that i should plan on getting

3.) if so what size can i get and still fit under my hood 1/2 or 5/16th

4) if i get the MREV2 and a spacer should i get a UTEC at the same time or can i go for a while without the UTEC and not have a loss in power

APS tallboy FTW by the way. AMAZING sound

With no dyno to know where your A/F is, I would say no to all the above. The only option would be an MREV2 if you also use a UTEC with it.

If you already have a tallboy, adding a spacer to it won't do anything but cause hood interference.

alright so i should get the MREV2 and a UTEC at the same time.

and yeah thats what i thought would happen if i got a spacer being that i have the the tall boy and i can't use my strut, but i was talking with mike from intense (at least thats who i think it was) at nopi and thats what he said to do.

thanks for the info, i'll be ordering the MREV2 and UTEC probably next month

Okay the 5/etc will give the best felt gains. But if my goal os to make peak power tuned. Which i havent seen anyone do yet so i can compare dynos on the revup . The 1/2 might get me closer to my goal to creat as much hp as possible tuned. I understand the curve gets moved lower with the 5/etc but my goal is not to have a tq monster or having the most avaiblle power . I have a revup so if im racing in a event or something my revs are not going to be below 5kish anyways making anything below that not really my concern. Its uptop peak power. (no drag racing for me) Will this then benefit me. I just wanna understand why offer the 2 sizes ya know. And i often wonderd what the 1/2 spacer with the mrev2 gaines over the 5/etc spacer same setup tuned.

Yes. That will finish off what can be done in the plenum area.

The 1/2" spacer will indeed make a higher peak on the dyno, but even for road course racing the pros/cons of each is roughly similar (with one exception). The stock strut bar.

1) The stock strut bar is the best of all strut bars on the market. It is the only bar that applies a preload to the strut towers.

2) In recent testing and Cipher data logging I did while at a track event, the average RPM (at WOT) on a REVUP engine is ~5200 RPM.
Of course, this value can change from track to track, and driver to driver but I can promise you I did everything I could to keep the RPM's as high as possible for as long as I could at WOT.

Naturally, I was also driving as fast as I could around the track.

And while doing the data analysis after the event, I made sure to sort the data based on throttle position. I excluded all data and RPM's that were anything less than 95% WOT. Power increasing modifications only add power at WOT so there is no reason to look at anything less than 95% WOT. It would only be useless data to dilute the data of interest.

So ~5200 RPM is/was the average track RPM at WOT.

I personally don't think it would be worth ditching the stock strut bar for 1-2 more HP above 5200 RPM.

This is why I almost always recommend the 5/16" spacer on the Z.

If you had a G35... I would say you could go either way.

very nice, im a road race addict ya know. So instead of making the same mistake modded with my previous Z.(287) i wanna make sure my 06 gets to breath the best way possible. Any vids of the event man would love to see a revup doing some work. Have u possibly thought of matching a TB to ur plenums or maybey a modified one to match the air being introduced. Or is the TB stock already decent enough to occomodate the plenums effieciency. I figure with working the plenum , the TB would be the next step.

i like my pulleys a lot, testpipes are always a nice mod also. do you have an intake? i've herd mixed things about gears (i know its not an engine mod) but i plan on getting them still. i've been told to wait until i fry my clutch to get a new one so that is one thing that i am waiting for. I have a short shifter and i love that.

No videos yet. But I will be going to Laguna Seca next month. I'll see if I can get more data and possibly some video with it.

On the stock TB, there isn't much pressure drop across it. So there isn't much to be gained by modifying it.

I would first put that money into more productive things like headers, cams or engine management.

UTEC will make gains but its not required at this point.
Slam on some test pipes and that will make good gains. ...especially with your HKS to flow into.

Add a UTEC to that and it will be even more effective.

Test pipes, MREV and UTEC.

Note: I know a lot of people don't want test pipes for a whole lot of lagitamet reasons, but they do make good gains.

also what manifold would fit with the MREV2 with the 5/16 spacer to get the most maximized gain from an 06 rev up

With a MREV2 and 5/16" spacer, you won't need anything else.

In fact, you don't want anything else added to it. Its maxed out at that point and it still lets you keep your strut bar.
