I looked at it once and there is no way for it to be done without cuttinginto the frame or running it on the outside like you see on old cobra's and shelby's which would not look good IMO.

X pipe --> oval piping out of the sides. It'll be 1' lower than anything else. You can always cut into the side skirt and put a metal shroud around it, which would look good, serve purpose. I wouldnt get side exit w/o an X pipe because the X pipe will quiet it down. I doubt you'll fit any mufflers in there, so the X pipe will reduce rasp to zip and it'll sound like a race car.

that pic of the underside is great----looks like major problem is getting the pipes THROUGH the side....

I think i could fit 2 small mufflers--maybe magnaflows up closer to the engine area, and actually be in the tunnel...then the X pipe...then from there i dunno...

it cant just run under the car b/c it'll be too low, especially if i drop the car as well....

And i keep staring at the pic to see how to run it through....I dont know if its crazy--but maybe that part can be cut, raised 2inches to make room for it to be flush, and re-welded....seems like it'd be behind the seats.....I just dunno...

The only way I see this working is if you get a real low body kit, perhaps Do-Luck. That may give you enough room to put an exhaust through it. Will prolly have to be dual on each side just so you can use norrower piping. Also if you'd like it to have more clearance still then use flatened/ovaled piping just before the tips. Good luck.

I was thinking about doing the same thing with the side exits. I made a thread about it a while back..and after doing extensive research, i came to the conclusion that it just wasnt worth it.

Try looking at these pipes. The 2.5 ovals aren't that big.

Here's to you for thinking outside the box.

Don't let the other sheeople on this board stop you from being a trailblazer. Just think if the people at Crawford or Motordyne gave up just because others said it wouldn't work. What if Henry Ford gave up after his second try at being an automaker? What if Carroll Shelby gave up on his Cobras in 1962 after loosing to Ferrari?

It seems to me that a good portion of those on this board are content with following the crowd. That's fine, just let those who want to be a bit avant garde ask their questions without stupid answers.....

I am new to this forum having previously owned a 98 Mustang GT. As previously stated, side exit exhaust looks great on Mustangs and other domestic "muscle" cars.

Personally, i think that it would look pretty good on a Z. Assuming you were to get a set of sideskirts that did infact have a lower overhang that that of the stock ones, i think it would be possible to do.
