Default G200 Issues?

I am experiencing a bit of rasp around 4100 rpm up till about 6000 if i'm really on it. Anyone else have this? Also, when i first put it on there was a strong smell of something burning....i attributed it to oils from manufacturing burning off. Its still slightly there, but not nearly as bad. It kinda smelled like burning plastic, however i looked around and cant see anything.

anyone with input would be great

the rasp is totally normally

as for the smell, you are right, and it will totally disappear with time. Some exhausts experience it longer than others. If it really annoys you, you can spritz it down with simple green or a similar cleaner (make sure you dilute it with water), and wash it down

whew! now, has anyone thrown on an x-pipe to this system to try and equal out exhaust pulses and get a smoother sound and better torque curve?

When i bought my g200 for my G, it had an x-pipe on there. I too experience the rasp at high end of the rpm. I was somewhat disappointed as I wasn't expecting to get any rasp. After my labree test pipe, it got crazy raspy and drone a lot. I just replaced my x-pipe with a Magnaflow x-muffler. Rasp and drone are all gone, but the exhaust is much much tamer now, sorta miss the roar. But the i just couldn't deal with the ricey rasp and drone.

Sorry, I don't have a good digicam that take good video. The magnaflow x-pipe is guarantee to stop the rasp. BUT i do not recomend it unless you get some testpipes or hi-flow cats and/or headers. With just the g200, it will make it VERY quiet. if that's what you're looking for, than that's your answer.

I have the same exhaust. The fact that it's near stock till 4 grand then opens up is why I purchased it. I like it.

I put an "H" pipe on mine within a week of installation. It smoothed out the idle, and fixed a loping problem I was having at idle. BTW, I have no drone or rasp. My system consists of Crawford headers and cats along with the G200.

That's awesome, I added testpipe and that alone was unbearable. I'm not sure how it's possible (not that i don't trust you Lou), but to upgrade anything before the catback and not get some sort of rasp. I know the FI exhaust might stand a chance with that Magnaflow x-muffler they used. Other exhaust just don't have enough places to damping the sound. Especially the g200 where the muffler is the first and only resonator on the whole system.

Trust Me My Man - I have nothing to gain. With the "H" installed, the system purrs like a kitten at idle and at WOT it bellows like an exotic. I really didn't know how good it sounded until I stood behind it while it was on the Dyno. It was beautiful.

My G200 was very raspy at first but after 2 weeks it mellowed down (and the smell went away). However in my case it was very raspy from idle until 2.5k. Are you running testpipes?
