Default Unsolvable problem....

I need some input, here is the story.

I used to have Crawford highflow cats on but decided I wanted to go back to OEM cats to quiet the car down some. I traded a local the highflows for the OEMS. RIght after putting on the OEM cats my car threw a CEL. The code was P0057. I know that is "O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2". So... I switched out the post-cat O2 sensor on the passenger side. That didn't fix the problem either. So now am out about $300 and still haven't gotten a quieter, WORKING, car. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

well something should occur to you.

if they're stock, they're not quieter than high flow cats, and you're throwing a code....maybe THE CAT IS GUTTED OR BAD!!!

check that out.

I checked them out before they were put on the car. The honeycomb seemed to be in good shape. The car IS quieter, just not working.

Swap the cats and see if the problem follows it to the other side. If so you definitely have a bad cat.

Edit: Are the cats swappable? I can't remember if there's a right and a left.

I don't think they are. I might just buy a new set of cats and swap em out. If it works, great! If not, then it's on to the next "fix".

Maybe there's a leak? Did you use new gaskets? Just throwing an idea out there...

You know... I am not sure there are gaskets. That COULD be the problem. Thanks for the lead.

Sure thing, cold air is not a friend to O2 sensors

When you changed o2 sensors from left to right did you reset the ecu? If you change anything with the o2 sensors I suggest resetting the ecu if your CEL was on. It might have not cleared completely.

Just ordered some gaskets. I'm about to head to Midas to see if they can spot an exhaust leak.

For anyone that may be curious I found the problem. Apparently "Bank 2 Sensor 2" is actually on the drivers side, NOT the passenger side. I guess it would have helped if I had replaced the correct O2 sensor, TWICE.

Thanks to Doug at Crawford for helping me out with this. He told me to hold off on buying a new set of cats from him and helped me diagnose the problem. Its nice to have stand up vendors like that around.
