You won't get much without tuning, maybe 7 or 8

also it's pointless to do headers unless you change out the (very restrictive) stock cats.

 

i agree with wired,very little is gained na on this engine.you would have to go to the extreme to get more then 30rwhp out of this motor.nissan really did do a good job on this engine.

 

how much to get it tuned??? sorry im new to this. do i need to get the car tuned everytime i put engine mods. What would be a best setup to achieve a little over 300 hp and stay legal, my budget is $1,700

 

test pipes, motordyne 5/16" spacer, popcharger, and technosquare reflash

IMO that would get you the best bang for your buck with that budget

Depends on state law. You may wish to go with high flow cats instead, if you don't want to run test pipes.

^^^ It's a spacer, just one. If you want to learn something about your car, search, it's all here. If you want to be spoonfed so you can blindly follow, keep asking, but remember, you're only getting a couple of folks' opinions.

 

since you have an 06 i would get the MREV2 + the spacer. This setup with no tune will get you somewhere near +17whp and really open up the mid to top end

also there is no way possible you will get 300whp for $1700. That mark requires some pretty serious $$$

 

with $$1700... u cant realli do anything to the engine even u do the gain is pretty minimal " little more than 300hp..sure 310hp for $1700".... i would suggest u find some nice cheap used exhuast and a jwt pop charger...then use the rest to do exterior..maybe lower it....blabla...best u can do for 1700...and sure u will hav no problem wif the laws.....then do more mods on the engine when u hav enough $$.....sometimes HP is not everything ... so ...dun worry about the hp since the z is already fast ... well good luck ..

 

your best bet is what Wired said, get test pipes if they are legal, popcharger, MREV2 and spacer and a reflash for the ecu. As far as the reflash goes, make sure you are done all your mods before you reflash it. So if you plan on exhaust and headers later on down the road, you may want to wait to get it reflashed....unless you want to spend the $600 over again
