Looks like the first one is the muffler only. The second one is the entire cat-back system. In other words, the second one replaces not just your muffler, but all the piping between the muffler and the catalytic converters as well.

Personally, I think so. If you're going to do your exhaust, do the whole cat-back thing. If you can afford it, do test pipes at the same time.

not really - but both are considered 'breathing' mods...usuasly aftermarket intake and exhaust systems are less restrictive (either by reducing noise cancleing devices or emissions controls) which then allow the engine to breath more freely and thus giving you more power at the wheels.
Lots of ppl first get an intake (cheaper and easier to install), then get an exhaust later on ... the more you free up the restrictions, the more power you'll get.

I have a real question and this is not to be rude or hijack the thread but I just keep noticing this all over this board and it amazes me. How is it that some of the members on this board can have hundreds or thousands of posts but yet seems to have to ask the most basic/noob questions??

It just doesn't make sense, I'm always seeing random post where some guys with 1100 post is asking whether getting an intake will void his warranty.

It just seems to me that if you have that many post, you would be on the forum enough hours or long enough to not only know the answers to 99% of the noob questions but also a lot of technical info abut our car.

Myself personally, I only have a handfull of post, but thats just because chose to read more than I post but as a result I feel that I'm extremely knowlegable about the Z/G just from constanly reading this site.

Once again I'm sorry to rant but I'm just genuinely confused.

up to a point. I'm being a stickler, but remember the law of diminishing returns applies

Haha yeah diminishing marginal return based on your propensity to increase hp while deriving your cost/benefit ratio. In conclusion do both and youll be happy.

Look at the exhaust system for the manifold back. A long term plan should be to replace everything. Make a plan. Its not necessary to buy everything at once, but follow your plan.

Photos and descriptions of exhaust systems can be confusing to some. Few members put the car on a lift, and look at the damn thing.

Void the warranty? Members who ask this and other questions do not want an answer. The just want to validate their preconceived notions.
