More Injen SES questions
I am thinking about the Injen SES exhaust now. I think I am in love with the way it looks, but how does it perform, and sound? Does it retain any of the stock sound? because I love that. And I dont want the nismo exhaust because i hate the way the tips look, and point upwards. Ive also heard that low end performance is lost with the Injen, is this true? I def would shy away if I would be losing low end torque. And The difference between the SES and Super SES is...?? I can never find what im looking for in a search. thankss guys

It performs really well actually, its a pretty good exhaust for N/A Zs

no Injen is a louder, for the agressive look of the exhaust i wouldn't expect any less. It has a nice loud and deep tone, best if combined with resonated test pipes, but if you are worried about the sound, Borla or NIsmo are your best choices

IMo me too, too much stock like look, jsut upgraded stock look for me, i woudl want more

the new INjen track edition solves this, but in any case you most likely wont feel the loss, IN any case this problem is easily fixed by making a custom "H" pipe on the regular injen SES, any muffler shop should be able to do it for ~~circa 60$, I would not consider this an isue with the injen, the car has lots of torque anyways, and you may be making the torque power loevels closer to the ones on the revup engine, which has more hp by lower tq

I have no opinion of the new Injen Ti Track with 60mm pipe, hopefully it is better than the earlier straight tip system.
As for my thoughts on the Injen straight tip with 50mm pipe, you'll find them here http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/pict...d002/injen.asp

i think you went a lil too far there... and maybe a lil to hating on injen...i like the effor tyou tryed to put teh science there... fact is mane and a lot of other people had has this exhaut for more than 10k miles absolutely no problems. I dont have the INjen right now cuase i have a JIC Ti for my turbo, but N/A the INjen ses is good, HKS better of course, but injen ses is good. THe new Injen Ti is good too...the bigger piping make it better specially for turbo cars... while still not 3" is a big step from what the previous model was.
Now backpressure is never a good thing - ever, on a turbo car. On an NA car, cylinder scavenging is a good thing, and to aid in this you need a certain exhaust velocity. Higher exhaust velocity is achieved via properly sizing the primaries and to a lesser extent, the rest of the exhaust. Properly sized primaries have the UNDESIREABLE effect of also inducing backpressure when they are sized properly for cylinder scavenging, unfortunately that's just how it works.
On a turbo car, there is no such thing as too large an exhaust downstream of the turbine - the pressure difference between upstream and downstream is what imparts energy to the turbo. Less pressure downstream always means more energy to do work on the turbine. You can't go too large - but you can get into the realm of diminishing returns where going larger doesn't gain you anything. But it'll never lose you anything in terms of power.

I am absolutely not hating, I was a customer, I love the look of this exhaust and had it delivered the goods and Injen was truly making a good performance product, I would be the first to congratulate them.
I am not talking about primaries coming off the heads.
There is no velocity benefit if you step down in piping down stream, it is simply an impedance. With Injen this occurs when you leave the factory cats (or test pipes if they are sized the same as the factory cats) to enter the Injen exhaust. How does this step down in size help in any way? Why is nobody else, including Injen at this point, using 50mm pipe?
If the OP really cares about getting opinions, he would search, this has been covered a million times and while some think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, the amount of Injen systems that can always be found in the for sale section compared to any other system says otherwise.

As far as the torque loss is concerned, I remember seeing dynos saying that you will lose in the range of 2-3 lb.-ft down low. Is your butt dyno really that sensitive? No. You won't feel a difference at all.
I'm really happy with my Injen. I've got the straight-tip. The sound is deep and loud, and will drone a bit on the highway. As another person above stated, getting a custom h-pipe welded into the exhaust will help a TON as far as the quality of the sound is concerned. Brings back just enough of the "Z" sound, kills the drone a little. It's supposed to help with torque as well, but again, 2-3 lb.-ft...you're not going to feel that.
