i just hope that they pass the savings of that 1500 to the next customer. they could say that its business but its not good business to charge one person a restocking fee with intentions of making more profit off the resale of that same item imho.

wait how can they charge you a re-stocking fee for a used kit coming off of another car?!?

Dude...not to punch you in the nuts over this but HOLY SHIITE.....only time I ever charged a restocking fee was after I shipped a custom built exhaust to a customer...they received it and said they decided to buy a cheaper one...I wouldn't have charged him anything but the guy was a complete *****....ask him for the depreciation estimate for a used greddy kit...seriously u got fisted homey!!!

I don't know how it works but do the shops buy the Kits off the cutomer then resell them or just handle the sale like a consignment thing?

Im not sure how it works. I spoke with Mr A this morning, he called me on my way to work and explained the breakdown of everything and told me that was it. This is the first work I have EVER done to ANY car, so I don't know what to say about the % restock fee or anything like that. All I know is what I was told, and Mr A told me that this morning so it was straight from the horses mouth.

or did he give credit for the part towards another part? Still, how do you charge a restocking fee for something that is used and never got installed in the OPs car, let alone never left the shop?

I was under the impression that restocking fee's were charged when a company orders something they don't normally carry instock for you. Not when the kit comes off another car and you say you want it and then you don't buy it. If thats the case there sure would be lots of restocking fees in the marketplace lol.

I don't know. I did not get a credit for other parts though. That was the thing, we could not figure out where all my money went. We itemized everything out this morning and still only got to around 4k which I still said sounded high. Then he pointed out the restock fee. So that is where the remainder of money went. There was nothing else to account for that money other than the restock fee, so to answer, no I did not get credit for it. Has anyone ever gotten credit for a restock fee?

You know the bottom line here is that the OP does NOT know what is going on and how can you hold a company responsible for something that the customer is clueless about. It frustrates me to see people bash companies so quick here on the forums...when there is not all the information available. Only a couple people here were willing to think that this guy had no idea what was going on and took what he was saying with a grain of salt. Deal with you issues with a company first before you come on here and blast people....then make sure you have ALL the details!

Default stay tuned for the next episode of "When Shops take advantage of hardworking people?"

Mr.A is formulating a way to tackle this 30% restocking fee as we speak.

In VRT's defense I am still an uninformed spectator that is making judgements without all the correct information/data. fallenromeo can you do the breakdown of the cost as you discussed with VRT in this order for easier reference.

Expenses:
exhaust = $
intake= $
suspension= $

I would hate for something like this to happen to me. Oh BTW if you get offered some discounts on future mods or something of that sort remind yourself you paid $5500+ and had a hard time justifying why.

Navygolf is absolutely right. I am not informed on these issues. I am not in anyway trying to bash the reputation of VRT. Im still in good standings with Mr A. Maybe I did pay too much money, I just didn't know everything about what was going on. My case should really be just a reminder to everyone to know what you are doing and be more aware. And also just to be fair, I am not blasting VRT or Mr A. I have said several times in all of my posts that I do not know enough to form an educated opinion, I have only posted the facts regarding what happened, and professional opinions from a shop who looked at it, and never have I blasted Mr. A or VRT. Im not on here to slander anyone.

I want you to know I am not saying you did.... I think a lot of other people jump on things here because of what they have heard. I know some speak from experience, but too many people hate on companies becuase of heresay. I am glad you are working this out with MrA and VRT. Everyone else deal with your own issues and get on with life!
