Default Kinetix Plenum *Sound*

I know, I know ....why did I buy and install a Kinetix Plenum? Well I bought it for peanuts and decided it was worth some extra air into the engine.

My question: I noticed the Kinetix had a louder tone (air suction) when starting the car and followed through the RPM range. Few days have passed and now I am concerned that this noise I constantly hear could be an air leak from the new plenum. I can best describe the noise to be like a very mild rotary engine. It seems like the plenum has thin walls and the suction/rumbling can be heard. I ran a paper and my fingers around the plenum edge and did not feel a thing.

For those with the same setup, do you have the same echolish noise when reving? What do you hear with your plenum?

Edgar

Isn't that thing made out of plastic?

Air could be leaking near the oil cap, if you didn't get all of the rubber flap out of there.

yes i will make a louder suction or rumbling noise around 2.5k to 4.5k rpm. if it's a v4 or v+ keep it .if it's a v1,2,or 3 just throw it out now and save yourself the headache (i had 3 crack on me by the center bolts)

I just installed the V+ on my car. Checked for leaks with a stethascope and there isnt any. But, I do have a CAI and you can hear a kinda whine and engine rumble. Its the plenum doing its job. I love the sound, and what a difference in the *** dyno!

I have a V+ and it definitely makes the car sound much more throaty in general. Kind of like a V8 or something. I am pretty sure that is normal.

The increased sound is normal. The sounds that are otherwise dampened and contained by the thick AL stock plenum pass through the composite Kinetix one more easily. I just pulled my v4 and sent it in for thier $100 upgrade program to get the V+.
