Default Helix V2 test pipes just installed : ) Review..

Well, i put the car on the lift at my work, used the mechanics air tools and got it installed. Thank God i didn't do this at home with the floor jack. You need this special little air revolver extension. I know i wouldn't have have done it with basic tools. Took me 45 minutes. I don't even want to imagine it without not having a lift because it would of been pretty straining. The hardest part was the bolts by the headers. Its really hard to get to. So just beware if you are thinking of installing it yourself.

Sound: raspy at 3-4 rpm only and sounds amazing. Raspy sound bad but with the sound of our v6 engine, its nice. I'm really picky with sound and thought it might sound like crap but sounds good. If our cars doesn't sound so cool stock, it would of been pretty ricey sounding. For a non resonating pipe on stock exhaust, it sounds really, really nice.

Its quiet besides that though. Do sound difference driving daily under 3k rpms.

power: i know i lost low end torque for sure. driving around town, i have to press the pedal down further and doesn't feel as torquey. High end feels a lot better but nothing amazing.

smell: Horrible. I got so dizzy on the ride home.

All in all, its nice for the price. Fitment is perfect and quality is good.

VIDEO WILL BE POSTED TOMORROW. Thanks guys.

I'll agree and say that non-resonated test pipes on the stock exhaust sounds pretty damn good

I also put the V2's on last week, build quality appeared excellent. I have the helix exhaust too, everything sounds great, and the smell is bad but not super bad. Car feels faster.

Why does the sensor on the driver's side look like it's angled down? UPS just dropped these same test pipes off at my house and I plan on installing them tomorrow. My car's pretty low and I don't want to break an O2 sensor.

You can do it yourself with help from a friend using jack stands. You use a extension and a swivel on your socket. One person lays under neath the car and guides it onto the nut while the other person stands above the engine compartment and turns the wrench. Its pretty easy to do.

Default I received the test pipes today.

Looks like a substantial pipe to me. Appreciate that Helix takes the extra step of polishing the stainless steel. Includes all gaskets, nuts and bolts. Hop Up Racing delivered in 6 days.

Does using Test Pipes will kill my O2 sensors faster than normal?

it's not going to get caught on anything. i was worried about that too but whatever that would rip that line out would have to rip my front bumper off also which hangs lower than that line.

raspy at only 3-4 rpm only. The last rev i did in the vid was at 3.5 rpm to show the rasp. Still, it's sounds so much better than the vid. The back fire pops sounded wierd in the vid.

I'm debating on doing this mod myself, with my stock exhaust. Worst that can happen is I'll hate it and take them back off until I go FI again

edit; just ordered AAM 2.5" test pipes!
