something smells fishy.. not hitting 199 or 200 whp without ECU or 00VI or MEVI and with headers you are way over $1500

It's interesting how the "other brand" cars always react better to mods. Strange when I owned other brands the grass was always greener with the "other brands." The mods were cheaper and produced more hp! lol!!!

when i had the celica i would always think man those Nissan guys are pulling hp outta their @$$ now that i am a nissan guy i see the honda guys pulling hp outta nowhere. it will always be like this, even if you get a corvette you will be like damn that viper is pulling out crazy hp. Envy is everlasting its human nature to never be satisfied, but yea not all the bolt-ons good for a DD for example Test pipes i cant run them because i am nto a fan of the noise, smell, and not being street legal.

Invest in some lightweight rims and tires. Start unlocking wheel horsepower by starting with the wheels themselves. Lighter tires and rims can make a large difference in power.

Curious but isn't the hks 2 1/4 pipe, so going to a 2.5 test pipe to a 2 1/4 exhaust, gonna cause some restriction?? Which is why i got rid of my crappy hks.

The HKS is 60mm converted that into inch and you get something like a 2.37 inch.

WTF... wheels don't increase HP... the play with inertia and confuse dyno numbers.. are you guys listening to yourselves? light weight wheels to unlock HP? WTF

<smiles> I think they meant that light weight wheels take less hp to get spinning... Kind of like a light weight pulley or fly wheel. They don't make any additional power, they just take less power to get spinning while accelerating... :-)

Yeah, a lot of people get obsessed with HP instead of hp/lb. My 270rwhp 914-6 was just plain silly at ~5hp/lb.

Many many many dynos have shown larger wheels = less whp

Should a larger heavier wheel be equal to a smaller lighter wheel....might want to listen to yourself before bashing what most people already know about wheel/tire/rotor/flywheel/pulley/drive shaft upgrades

Weight takes power to rotate

You cant "confuse" a dyno anyway....it translates power exerted....wheelspin can play a role in bad numbers but lighter wheels and tires will ramp quicker which means more power is being generated aka the lighter wheel and tire combo "should" accelerate better all else being equal (tires, contact patch etc..)

is that load based dyno? or dynojet.. you need to ask yourself that..

and as i said before.. wheels do NOT open up HP

Old bump, but: I don't know the affects of lightweight wheels on a dyno, but I've seen their effects on a 1/4 mile and the differences are vast. A lighter wheel combo reduces drivetrain loss, so you're essentially putting down more WHP to the ground. Thus you've unlocked some additional ponies. Am I wrong or right?

no.. its faster in the 1/4 mile because the car overall is lighter.. same theory with Lotus cars and Civic Hatches that run low numbers on 200 whp.. same theory as to making weight reduction on your car. It has nothing to opening up more hp.. its just the existing HP is pushing less weight. Its not reducing drivetrain loss because the engine is still turning over the same components.. removal of accessories such as A/C, powersteeing pump and other things that use the drivetrain would be reducing drive train loss .. not lighter wheels
