catback exhuast and real world horsepower gains
alright it hit me while i was at work today
theres tons of catback exhuasts
obviously any would be an improvment from stock i would think
but really is there a big enough difference between a $1200 exhuast and $600 exhuast in the horsepower department??
i would think to get minimal gains you would need to go headers and test pipes
as well as some cat back system
but is it really worth it to buy a $1200 exhuast when a $600 or $700 sounds just as good?

not really, people usually buy it because they:
1) like the looks
2) like the way it sounds
3) are brand ******
4) like to have an exclusive exhaust that nobody else has
5) like how they flow (i.e. FI applications)
if you are NA, just get the one that sounds the best to you and fits your budget, HP differences will be minimal with just wan exhaust.

Is there a direct correlation between price and performance? No.

Look at the weight!! That goes in close hands with performance. Stillen will give you more HP and Torque but it also weights the most, in my personal opinion the answer is between Borla and Nismo. I will choose Nismo for the AutoX and Borla for the ¼ mile, but at the end is up to you. Furthermore, there are more brands on the magazine that weren’t on the market before that are now.
I think the only significant difference in performance is whether its true-dual, like the Borla/HKS, or standard flow like the Nismo/Fuji/Etc.
I bought the Nismo because I love the way it sounds and because it gives some HP gains, albeit not a ton. There are other mods to do that.
