Default OH.. S-H-I-T not another plenum question

have searched and researched before I made the painstaking decision to ask this intelligent question. Anyways, I have made the decision to buy the 5/16'' motordyne spacer over the kintex plastic one. The motordyne website says that if you live in a place that snows you need the copper one instead of the iso thermal. I live in virginia, it really doesnt get that cold here so which one should i get? Also on the motordyne website it says this "The second component is the throttle body Coolant Control Valve (CCV). The CCV allows you to selectively heat (or not heat) the plenum assembly. With local weather temperatures below 55'F the valve is left open. In warmer weather the valve can be closed for maximum thermal benefits." What does this mean, (from poeple who own this spacer). Do i have to chnage settings based on the temp outside or what? Thanks for helpin

Don't bother with the CCV crap. Just leave it be. No need to cut hoses cause Its a marketing scam.

Sheesh... Thanks for the positive vote Plumpzz.

It does indeed work and is good for another 1-2 HP on top of what the spacer does. Iso Thermal reduces plenum assembly temperatures by 30-60 deg F.

I have been running the spacer for 17,000 miles. No problems.

If you don't mind switching the CCV to the on position during the cold season you can get the regular Iso Thermal to save a few bucks.

If you don't want to bother with switching a valve then get the Copper Iso Thermal.

I generally recommend the Copper for places like NY, Chicago, Alaska, Canada, Montana or similar places where it gets bitter cold for a significant portion of the year.

I don't know VA weather much but if its anything like CA you can do the regular Iso Thermal and its almost never turned to the on position.

I got the copper throttle body spacer. I garage my car for the winter but I do drive it in the early spring and late fall. I didn't want to worry about turning the ccv valve on or off depending on the temperature. The weather in New England is constantly changing in the fall and spring. It can hit 65 degrees during the day and then drop into the 30's at night. Hell, last night it was in the 40's and today it is in the 80's! That is why I got the copper throttle body spacer. Like Ron Popeil says "Set it and Forget it!

If I lived in Phoenix, Miami, LA, etc. I would just get the ccv because you will almost never need to open it.

In normal weather, NO.

In very cold weather, the Copper has the advantage because you get to take full advantage of the cold, dense incomming air without having to heat the entire plenum just to insure the TB doesn't ice up.
