Default Performance Differences: HKS Dual vs. Greddy Evo2

Currently Im running a Nismo catback with Titek TP's, sound is good, performance gains are ok I guess. Anyways, Im looking for a true dual now. Ive read alot about HKS dual/ X02 dual and about Greddy Evo2. I dont care about the sound at this point, atleast not a great deal. I just want something that will give good gains with my tp's. Now, I know alot of you will say HKS is better, but is there a big "POWER" difference between the two...HKS and Evo2??

For the "Search" Police,
Yes, I did search. All I found were flaming threads about HKS vs. X02 and threads with stupid remarks.

I dont like the look of either exhaust, HKS or Greddy, nor the sound but I want performance.

Thanks

Jeff

Are you planning to stay NA? If so don't even bother switching exhaust. Spend that money on a utec. You will net better gains and the change in power will be more noticable than switching to a true dual.

i have the greddy evo 2 on my roadster and the X02 on my brother's hatch. i can only speak for sound because i haven't driven the car since i gave it to him. the X02 sounds like a jet landing while my Evo2 is very quiet. night and day set ups.

The HKS/XO2 usually give about 5+ more hp then the nismo. Ive seen people get like 14hp out of an HKS, and like 6 out of the Nismo. If im not mistaken the Nismo is the worst performing exhaust for the 350z. The design is the same as the stock, but just a little bit larger diameter piping. People get it for a couple of reasons. 1. Its Nismo, and they want to Nismofy there Z 2. It sounds like stock but is a bit louder

Note: I didnt get anthing out of my HKS and HFCs tell I got it tuned(3-4hp). Once I was tuned I got 18hp out of the HKS and HFCs. Every car is different though. The mods made my car run extremely lean. It seems like rev-up engines respond better to mods before a tune then a the DE enignes. This is just from my experince though. Fron watching 4 other cars before me get dynoed, and reading things on these boards.

UTEC is on its way already. Im looking for a different exhaust now. Does the Evo2 keep that same throaty sound the Nismo has? Im pairing it with my Titek non res tp's. I dont know if I want to dish out $1200+ for the HKS. I dont like the look of it, I prefer the Evo2 but if the HKS will out perform the Evo2, then I might have to grab it. I just dont like those two crooked canisters of the HKS. Looks ricey to me. No offense to anyone else, thats just my opinion.

In your case, if one exhaust system does perform better than the other, the difference will be marginal and unnoticeable. Personally, I prefer the Greddy EvoTT over both. I don't have a turbo, yet I still prefer it over the Greddy Evo2<----- (tips don't look sexy)

What is the piping size on the GREddy? I believe the HKS is 2 1/4.

Im not sure but I thought HKS was 2.5" dual?? I thought both Greddy and HKS were 2.5" duals.

I did think about possibly EvoTT, but I know for sure I will loose some torque. There may be plans for FI in the future, maybe Vortech but Im not worried about it at the moment. Cant decide between HKS and Evo2. I think you're right though. The difference in gains between the two might be so marginal that I wont even notice it.

What about sound difference between the two?

HKS is 2.36in dual. I have the HKS and the tips are not crooked, and you cant see the canisters inless you get on your knees and look under the car. They look awesome imo, you can even adjust how far they stick out.

First bolded sentence:
Do you have a dyno sheet that shows the increase?

Second bolded sentence:
Do you have a dyno sheet that shows the increase?

Those seem like inflated #'s to me.

To the OP, I would go with a ecu & tune before switching to a TD exhaust. IIRC, you will loose bottom end trq, and for us NA guys thats huge.

If your looking for performance - you should only be looking at HKS, Stillen and Fast Intentions. They are all just about the same HP gains. Almost EVERYTHING else gets 7HP or lower, these will usually get 10HP or more, up to about 13HP.

For more HP - add TP's or HPFC's. Fast Intention sis the only company out there that designed their system to specifically work with TP's and HFC's from inception. Stillen just came out with their HFC's.

Of those three - it's a sound and looks preference.

For performance I'd pick the HKS over the GReddy. One more thing to take into consideration is whether you will run the exhaust with stock cats, high-flow cats, or test pipes.

I've had a the evo2 exhaust with test pipes and high-flow cats and stock cats. I swapped it out for another catback and haven't looked back.

To the first bolded sentence, no I dont on hand. There were dyno sheets that ive seen on here though. I've also read quite a few people saying they only got 6-8 HP out of there Nismo exhaust.

To the second bolded sentence. Yes, right here

Just wanted to tell you one thing,

HKS is a True Dual and the pipe diameter is 2.36

GReddy EVO2 isn`t True Dual, it got a big canister in the middle of the exhaust its in the same place of the stock Y-Pipe so it replaces the Y-Pipe but it act as a Y-Pipe so it isn`t a True Dual.

GReddy EVOTT is the True Dual Exhaust with a 2.75 Pipe Diameter.
