The heat soak from the aluminum "oven" will kill any benefit from the air duct. Just my opinion, stock air box or Pop-charger is the way to go, I prefer either with a Varis air duct. What do I know though? I only trapped 107mph with bolt-ons...btw-Id guess that would dyno lower than stock due to shield but once moving would be about the same IF you install an air duct.

Yes, an air duct and cooling panel with the duct will be installed in matter of days and original aluminum shield was built by PPE and I'm using it to build a dry carbon fiber version of shield after few researches and gathering the others' thoughts from this forum. I also bought the used jwt pop-charger kit and new stillen kit from this forum to use as a comparison.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

All this arguing and typing is not worth the possible 2hp increase you stand to gain from doing this. Your car would be faster by simply removing some spare weight.

Xeno JC, sorry to see your thread is getting ruined. You can do an option in here to ignore member's posts. It should be in your User CP.

I see that you already bought two different intakes, so it's not about being cheap, but it's a hobby. Trying to work on your own car and come up with your own ideas, so keep it up.

As far as increasing horsepower with your intake? no clue.

It looks nice, from a performance standpoint I'm not sure, as with mine... I just did it for fun

This is what I did...

The lower inner corner of my plastic box gets hot as hell after a long hard run, its one reason I chose plastic over metal. The radiator fan blows hot heat directly towards the box, stupid… Those running open filters without an enclosure are most likely killing any potential gains. I think the theory is… for every 10 degree drop in temperature, you gain 1hp. So imagine your engine sucking up 120 temps vs 70… a 5hp loss Making a poorly designed CAI useless!

The other thing… I’m sure I’m killing some of my performance with my aluminum piping, but IMO its so minimal, its not worth getting rid of the BLING, lol. Especially at the rate the air enters the engine, I’m sure the heat soak effect is next to notihng.

GL with your experimenting!

From a heat soak standpoint, CF would be the way to go for an enclosure and Z tube... IMO.
