Default What do you think about my COLD AIR INTAKE setup? :D

I modified PPE one off my TRD MR-S, it came out well!

Here are some of the pictures that my brother took while I was working on it today.

Let me know what you guys think about it!

umm not an expert on this but, i believe that might be restricting air coming into your cai? cai's don't only suck in air coming in through the cut out but also air running through your engine bay all over the place. I believe it sucks in air all around and by doing that your actually constricting it. but i guess it guarantees your not sucking in hot air sooo... i dono haha. Looks pretty cool though gj

Yes, I ordered Radiator Cooling panel with the duct, Bumper Air Duct, Intake Piping; all in carbon fiber from Delsa Motor Sports.

Actually, I also ordered the Stillen Intake from Gin@CZP too, and the JWT Pop Charger from joe3906.

I was going to use the Stillen Intake System with JWT Pop Charger Air Filter only but I really like this setup. If there is nothing wrong with it, haha. It sounds great too.

not really. You can have an airbox like the one he has in the pic and it could be the same.

except an airbox allows air to get into the filter, that thing is a sleeve that looks like it is defeating the purpose of the filter. but whatever, it is his car and when it possible develops problems down the road, i am sure we will be the first to hear about it in another thread

Not really, this thing has plenty of air flow volumes inside the heat shield for the air filter when you attach them together. This intake system is not something I picked up from the walmart and weld it in an hour.

It was originally designed for a MR-S by PPE so it can suck the cold air from the side vent. Check out their website @ http://www.ppeengineering.com/mrsintakes.htm

I just took off the piping part and made the new flange to fit the Z.

Looks like DIY version of Blitz Carbon Suction intake kit.

That's pretty awesome. Great idea, good execution, but in all honesty the 350z's stock airbox is already pretty good with a K&N drop in. That setup is pretty cool though.

I like the idea but mebbe you should trim it a bit to open up the side not facing the motor..or mebbe drill some symmetric holes on that same side?

Yes, I also agree that stock system is already cold air and is great. However, if same materiel used, a cone style air filter has about three times larger suction air volume than plane square. And this A'PEXi sounds awesome; kind of simular to pop charger sounds.
