Default Nismo exhaust gaskets

I know you can purchase the gasket and hardware kit from Nissan and I did when I first bolted up the exhaust. I blew the gasket connecting the Y-pipe to the mid-pipe though and now I am wondering if there is any way to find just the one gasket at a better price so I can pick up a few.

It is the gasket in the left of this bolt & gasket kit.

1. how do you "blow" a gasket in the exhaust? there's barely any pressure on them...

2. any gasket will do, no need to spend extra for nismo

When I pulled off my exhaust, one set of gaskets were soaked in fuel and actually broke apart. I guess I was running rich.

I know this is a seperate question, but how many bolts are needed for the stock exhaust? I'm looking to reinstall it and all I have are the gaskets and nuts. Am I missing bolts?

The studs (bolts) are pressed into the flanges of the stock exhaust. So nuts only.

Hey guys, I just recently installed the nismo on my car as well. I had to search everywhere to find these gaskets! Its still leaking though through the mid-pipe/muffler connection, apparently there is supposed to be a 3in metal O-ring there. Any ideas where I can get one?
Thank You

You will probably have to buy the complete bolt and gasket kit...

Back from the dead. Does anyone know the sizes of the gaskets and o ring? I don't see the need to spend big $$$ on "NISMO" gaskets, these are just exhaust gaskets. I need these to install my Nismo exhaust. thanks

SO you would need the nuts then. Anyone know about the gaskets? Can I use OEM sized ones?

I would spread a very thin coat of paint on the exhaust then push a peice of paper onto it to copy the shape, then check local auto parts store and match them up, i wouldnt use the 3-ply ones (like oem) i'd use the 1 peice thicker gaskit if it were me, just spend the money for the nismo kit it will be easier and atleast you know its right

Why not use Nismo?

Well $80 for gaskets in my opinion is ridiculous.

I actually went around some muffler shops in the area and found what I needed. For future reference:

1.You can use OEM gaskets where the y-pipe attaches to the cats. (like someone mentioned a thicker gasket is preferred)
2.You need a 3" inner diameter for the y-pipe to mid pipe connection.
3. Here is the tricky one, The metal o-ring for the mid pipe to muffler is 3" inner diameter. I went to Nissan and the only one they had was much larger than that (4" or so). I modified it as follows: I cut it using a hack saw, mocked it up to the exhaust and marked the second cut. I removed the excess and installed it. So far no leaks.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
