Mark it so it goes back in the same exact place or it will cause you problems. Remove both 12mm bolts. Pry up with screw driver or pry bar then pull off shaft that goes to steering wheel.

That's one way to do it... Another option is to slip the header in from the top/front. Although with mine, we did have to loosen the motor mount & rock the engine slightly to get the driver's side header to go in. Passenger side was a snap.

Yeah, it probably couldn't hurt to get all the room you can in there. It's pretty d@mn tight.

Loosen the bolts and push the shaft back into the steering column, should come loose no problem.

i drive the car in the winter, so some of the bolts down there are a little rusted.

The shaft itself doesn't move. It's the coupling that moves. The coupling should just slip off the spline (going in an upward motion). But mark it first with whiteout or something, so you can align it when you put the u-joint back in.

Undo these two bolts (I think they're 12mm), then slip the entire coupling up and off the steering column.

Is this the knuckle you are talking about? Spray with some penetrating fluid. Remove the bolts completely.

Sorry I couldn't respond sooner but it looks like everyone has given you the answer.

I honestly don't know why you need to loosen the top bolt, there is no need for it. BUUUUUUUUUUT saying that, I loosened both bolts too

Hope you can get it!!

Maybe my memory is alittle hazy. My shaft (steering ;p) moved, you could push it up a few inches and out of the way entirely.

looks like my steering shaft/u-joint have become one peice.
this sucks, i tried hammering the bottom of the u-joint up but nothing
waiting for a buddy to come over and help tilt the motor to hopefully create enough space

also, my CEL is on. i have the non fowlers on megan test pipes and dc sports headers. any suggestions?
i was also pleased that there is zero drone, and if i drive normally i cant even tell anything has been done to the car. the sound good under power though
